🐾 PRIVATE ADOPTION — MEET JERRY 🐾
Meet Gerald, better known as Jerry! Jerry is a 1-year-old, 52 lb neutered mixed breed looking for a new home through private adoption.
Jerry is described by his family as the “bestest boy”, loving, happy, playful, gentle, and incredibly easy to love. He has those classic young-dog bursts of energy, but once he’s gotten his activity in, he’s perfectly happy curling up on the couch and convincing you that a 52 lb puppy absolutely qualifies as a lap dog. He loves walks, running, fetch, tug-of-war, playing with his toys, and, most importantly, getting all the snuggles.
Jerry is potty trained and crate trained and has already completed a two-week professional training program. He knows sit, down, place/kennel, stay, break, heel, drop it, come, and recall. He walks nicely on a loose leash in heel and has experience training with both a flat collar and e-collar. Like any young dog, he can still use some help following commands when he gets really excited or distracted!
👨👩👧👦 People & kids: Jerry is incredibly friendly and curious with new people. He currently lives with young children and has done well with kids ages 3–6.
🐱 Cats: He has lived successfully with cats. He’s very curious about them and may occasionally chase or stare at them, but his family reports that he has gotten along well with them.
🐶 Dogs: Jerry has not lived with another dog, so his compatibility with a future canine sibling would need to be evaluated. He is generally curious when he sees other dogs and likes to sniff rather than bark.
🏡 Home life: Jerry is comfortable being crated while his family is away and has been left for approximately five hours at a time. He is used to having a fenced yard and enjoys having room to explore, although his family does not feel a fence is necessarily required.
One important thing for potential adopters to know is that Jerry does show some resource guarding around his food. He has growled when children or cats have approached him while he is eating. His family reports that he has never snapped at or bitten anyone, but this is something his future family should be prepared to appropriately manage and continue working on. He also needs supervision around small chewable household items, if it looks like a toy, Jerry may decide it is a toy!
Jerry is neutered and up to date on vaccinations. His family describes him as a moderate-to-high energy young dog who would thrive with people who will continue giving him structure, activity, playtime, and plenty of affection.
❤️ Jerry is very loved. This is a private rehoming, and the goal is not simply to find him a home, but to find him the right home where he can continue being the happy, goofy, snuggly boy his family knows and loves.
If you are seriously interested in adopting Jerry, please send a private message with some information about yourself, your household, current pets, dog experience, and what you’re looking for in your next companion.
Disclosure: I have not trained this dog, just helping for a friend! There will be a rehoming fee to ensure that the new owners are willing to commit to the financial aspect that dogs require.
Please share to help Jerry find his perfect fit!
