Here's something I have never seen before: One of my client horses, Chief, has a blind wolf tooth.

Recently, Chief started being more resistant to the bit and started tossing his head (uncharacteristic of him). After some palpation in his mouth, I discovered this boney lump. This is about a finger width in front of his premolars, and most likely causing him some discomfort with the bit. He has been a trooper for four months, only recently showing discomfort.

It's amazing what horses will power through while we are completely unaware. If I were in his shoes I would've dumped my rider's butt every time they touched the reins 🤣. Bless him for being such an angel. ❤️ I'm so glad he felt safe enough with me to start showing me what was bothering him so we could get it fixed.

We will be getting it extracted soon.

I also need to mention how appreciative I am of good clients who allow me the chance to get physical elements taken care of while a horse is in training. Thank you Sussi!

Show day over the weekend at Panorama Horse Show Circuit with some great friends and an excellent community. Miss Peanut and I had an excellent day showing! We worked on focus and play, with the best moment being when I trumpeted the national anthem as we carried the American flag around the trail pattern! The vibe at the trail class was at a whole other level! 🤣

Halter - 3rd place
Showmanship - 2nd place
In-hand Ranch Trail - 2nd place (by only 1 point!)
Discipline on the Rail - 3rd place
Ridden Ranch Trail - last place due to taking the time to school the class two-handed when Peanut needed a little extra help.

Zaya and Chief came along to learn patience at the trailer during the show. Chief was an angel and Zaya is still learning to settle down when her best friend Peanut leaves lol.

It turns out Kevin is staying ❤️

As I thought about rehoming Kevin, I never felt 100% with it. And as I read my listing for him, I realized that the potential owner I was describing was me.

He is my little buddy, my emotional support animal, and a friend to my kids. He deserves a place here, even if Thea outgrows him. Watch for future adventures as we build him a pack saddle and enjoy him as the cutest little dude.

The wildflowers I saw on our hikes and rides through Fish Lake National Forest. ❤️

My family and I went to Tasha Campground for a weekend and enjoyed some time out of cell service with beautiful stars, good horses, and mother nature's beauties.

I did not think watching my kids say goodbye to Neo would be so hard 😭

My kids headed up the mountain this morning to go camping while I stayed home to prepare Neo to head to his new home in Stephenville, Texas. He will be loading up tonight for the long journey. The emotions I am feeling after watching my kids say goodbye to Neo are something else.

I realized today that I have been subconsciously distancing myself from Neo the past couple weeks, knowing that saying goodbye would be hard. The emotions I was trying to avoid by distancing myself from Neo all came pouring out as the kids said goodbye. Our journey with Neo has been an unexpected one, full of both joy and heartache. I can only hope that where Neo lands is what I am hoping for.

Alexis Mcquarie, please love our boy as much as we do! We will sure miss him! ❤️❤️❤️

I will be starting a new series of posts on my page, because I think it is important. The word "joy" has been one returning to my mind a lot lately. I've had a lot of hard moments this past year, the list of those, I won't name, because I think listing our struggles makes them grow. I believe we need to be present in the hard moments, and we need to feel them. But we also need to let the pain pass and realize how many small moments of joy happen in our lives, even through painful or difficult times.

I remember in 2018, when my mother passed away, that I would find myself laughing at something my toddlers did, and I would feel bad for finding joy, because I was supposed to be grieving. But realizing that joy can happen amidst the pain is such a beautiful thing.

So at a time in my life when things feel overwhelming, I will post my moments of joy, whether it be with horses or not. Because I think we all need reminders to find joy in the little things, and even on the hard days.

Today's moment of joy: My kids catching a h***y toad on our trail ride and bringing him along for the ride. 🥰

Please share your joyful moments in the comments ❤️
