Attention " Fresh dog food" feeders, a new type of bladder stone was discovered at Univ of MN Urolith Lab. It is associated with an ingredient "choline bitartrate" in the newly popular food type, including brands like Just Food for Dogs, The Farmers Dog, NomNom, and few others. It is also in a few supplements for homemade dog food like perhaps the supplements from Balance-it. It also has been linked to a few medications like Entyce and Temeril-P.
This predominately occurs in males, and small breeds, but can in females and large breeds. There may also be a concern with some incidence of kidney disease.
Although many people feed these foods without issue, the discovery of this new bladder stone may warrant attention and consideration.
