Sesshomaru has new digs tonight. I’m moving back to paper bedding for my hamsters (been finding tiny spiders in my aspen, and having a crisis with feeling like the aspen isn’t “clean” enough after it’s been in the enclosure for a while despite routine cleans) and it’s been a hit with my Syrians. My robo’s Grunk and Churro don’t seem to care (and still aren’t burrowing), but I’m noticing more burrowing behavior from Charlie and now Sesshomaru.

I’m using the long weekend to get some much needed tasks done before my new additions arrive later this month, so everyone else’s new digs are in the works as well. AND I have a huge AliBaba order coming this month too, so those items are going to be worked in for even more enrichment. Everyone is going to have 4 dig boxes with different substrates, a burrow starter, new water bottles, and I got some grass tunnels to try fitting in if I can 😅 I also previously mentioned how I meshed out a lot of my Vista lids, but honestly I think I’m going to put the acrylic back on them. While I like the ventilation the mesh provides, I do not like having hamsters who bite the mesh trying to get my attention and I feel like having to keep air flowing some other way is better than risking a potential dental issue.

It’s looking like my pre-loved supplies are probably going to be posted next weekend, and I’m still planning to launch my store at some point but can’t say exactly when that launch date will be right now.

So uhhh - if anyone has any LARGE blue, yellow, red, or orange Niteangel wheels that you don’t need/want anymore, hit me up 🤣 I’m trying to complete my collection. Same with if you have a 12.5” pink Bucatstate wheel. You could legitimately be in the UK and I’ll still buy them.

Looks like Jack had an off encounter with his water bottle 🤣

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking and it was probably overzealous of me to aim for 4-5 litters next year, so I’m planning for 3 instead. Part of ethical breeding involves breeding according to a waitlist and I simply don’t think at this point in time that my waitlist can support more than that. So the pairings/timings are as follows:

Madeleine x Tyke to be paired in late December, pups born in mid January, pups ready to go home towards the end of February/early March
Wolf Alice x Jack to be paired in early April, pups born in mid April, pups ready to go home towards the end of May/early June
MadeleineTyke Pup x Asta to be paired in late July, pups born in mid August, pups ready to go home towards the end of September/early October

If my waitlist changes, I might be able to support more litters later in the year but this is where I’m sitting now.

Otho is looking a bit old these days, but it’s okay because HE IS old 🥰 He’ll be 2 on 9/7 and I’m so happy about that. He has some mild arthritis but has been doing wonderfully with regular metacam. He has also developed cataracts over the past couple days, but it’s nothing that’s going to slow him down - I might just have to simplify his enclosure a little. Because he’s getting older, I installed a pedometer on his wheel too to keep track of his activity levels.

Some other updates here - It’s looking like Tyke and Wolf Alice will be joining the hamstery here in late September, but this is still in the works. I can’t even express how excited I am, and I’m already coming up with names for Wolf Alice’s future litter 👀 I received a very generous donation tonight from someone who has sadly decided to get out of owning hamsters, and I am happily going to put so much of it to use. Anything that I do not use will be donated to rescues or shared with my friends 💜 I am also planning on posting some other things from my longstanding hoard of hamster supplies for sale this weekend, especially hides and wheels suitable for dwarf hamsters or mice as I’m getting out of mouse keeping and don’t see myself back into dwarf hamster keeping anytime soon after Grunk and Churro. I also plan on selling my 3 medium Niteangel Bigger Worlds. All items will be pickup only, I don’t need any shipping craziness added to my plate right now what with playing musical cages and my puppy Ghost being a walking vet bill 😅

Charlie was an absolute doll tonight. She’s such a cheery girl and gave me the little pick me up that I needed 💜

I’ve got some not so great updates and I unfortunately expect that to be the trend for a bit as quite a few of my hamsters are seniors and/or on medical watch. I very sadly found Angel passed away in her sleep tonight, and my ASF Theodore rapidly developed MnPV (which is incredibly common in ASFs) and is going to need to be put to sleep this week.

That leaves me with Otho, Charlie, Sesshomaru, Asta, Jack, and Madeleine as far as my Syrians, Grunk and Churro as far as my robo’s (both on medical watch), then Dove, Iris, Nami, Johnny, and Richard as far as my mice. I will be welcoming Tyke and Wolf Alice home next month and then Tyke and Madeleine will be paired for the SpongeBob litter at the end of the year though, so there is a bright side.

If you got an email invite from me, it is NOT me. I was sent something by someone yesterday and my account became compromised when I tried to click on it, thinking it was a legitimate event. Everything should be secure now - I’ve changed my password and logged out of every device, reported to Google, etc. - but I am getting messages asking if I sent an invite and I DID NOT. DO NOT CLICK ON IT, change your passwords, and check which active devices are logged into your account.
