Exploring new spots and meeting new animal friends is so good for my soul ā™„ļø

Earlier this month, I enjoyed a trail ride in Pennsylvania. The horse I rode was named Sassy but she was a very good girl for me. I think she recognized a kindred spirit 🤣

I also spent time enjoying a nature preserve. The first pic was taken at the preserve and is a hiding spot for birdwatching 🐦 šŸ‘€

Meet my newest friend Willow! She is a real sweetheart and sits so well for her treats.

As a proud member of the Labrador club, she’s loves to eat both edible and non edible things. She thinks she is part squirrel and a part time landscaper with all the acorns and mulch she tries to eat 🤣 🌰 🌱

Fortunately for me, she is very treat motivated and I am able to reward her for making good choices aka not eating things she shouldn’t 😌

This past weekend, I visited my parents and met the newest members of their menagerie.

The kittens (gray and tabby) are named Milo and Wyeth. They are littermates and cute as buttons!

The adult cat (tabby) is named Jenny and she is super affectionate 🄰

I had a wonderful time meeting them and seeing the elders of the menagerie as well!

Hope everyone is having a nice holiday weekend!

I’ve been loving the cooler weather and being out and about with my favorite two legger aka my husband 🤣

We went to the Maryland State Fair yesterday to see all the animals and crafts.

The funnel cake was a hit, as always šŸ˜‹

Absolutely hilarious!! Cats are gonna cat, no matter how pretty the scenery šŸ˜‚

As far as I can tell, this is a true story. I looked up the account on Instagram and it seems legit.

I do my best to only share verifiable stories on the internet. There is so much nonsense out there!

Some people travel for the scenery. This Japanese cat owner gets the scenery plus whatever chaos Chouchou and Miko decide to add.

The man behind Instagram account regularly takes his cats on outings and photographs them among flower fields and other picturesque locations around Japan.

And some of the best photos happen when the plan falls apart.

One recent example came on August 16, when the family visited Sera Kogen Farm in Hiroshima. With a huge field of sunflowers behind them, the owner tried to pose with Chouchou and Miko together.

According to his post, the cats started fighting while he held them. He changed tactics, photographed Chouchou on his shoulder, and eventually managed to get more pictures of the pair together.

It was not an isolated bit of cat chaos. Other posts from the account show the pair playing, swatting or squabbling during posed photoshoots, even as their owner continues documenting their trips through some remarkably beautiful settings. They are also photographed peacefully together, so the viral claim that they "always" fight is a little too perfect to be literally true.

Maybe the imperfect pictures are the better souvenir anyway.

If your cats did this every time you tried for a perfect family photo, would you keep trying or make the chaos part of the tradition?

Hungry, hungry hippo-cats story time šŸ¦› 🐱

Earlier this month, I visited my friends Maverick and Goose. They are 1.5 year old brothers and I’ve been petsitting for them since they were young kittens.

They are always cute and occasionally mischievous, as kittens can be 🤣

At my last visit, I saw a plastic sandwich bag on the floor. It contained pellets of food, for lack of a better term. I thought the pellets were a unique snack-this client has young kids. Some newfangled thing from Amazon.

As I continue walking to the fish tank, I see that there are fish flakes all over the floor! The cats were acting fine and I texted the client to let him know.

I had thought that I maybe left the bottle of flakes out at my previous visit. I pride myself on being very meticulous so I texted the client to mention that and apologize.

As it turns out, I had put the flakes away in the cabinet above the fish tank. The client sent me a screenshot from the indoor camera that you can see below. The cat hopped up onto the fish tank and opened the cabinet and knocked the bottle of flakes down šŸ˜‚

Somebody also opened the bottom cabinet to get out other fish food. Mav and Goose sure know how to keep me on my toes 🤣

And of course the game ā€˜Hungry Hippos’ was in the bottom cabinet 🤣🤣🤣

Introducing the newest members of my parent’s menagerie- 2 brothers who have yet to be named.

They are so cute and I can’t wait to meet them!
The 2 long term resident cats-Clemmie and Ziggy- have been getting along great with the kittens 🄰

I’ve been enjoying a staycation these past few days! I’ve really enjoyed getting out and exploring new sites and visiting familiar places.

I’ve lived in the Baltimore area for nearly 9.5 years and I finally visited the Enoch Pratt library and the The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore. I really enjoyed both places!

My husband tagged along with me to an opera concert with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. It was a wonderful evening!

We also drove out to Western Maryland to visit the Crystal Grottoes Cavern in Boonesboro. The tour is about 30 minutes long and the cave is really cool-both aesthetically and meteorologically 🄶
