Please donate to help Mary stay in her home! She and her family have adopted from Hodgepodge many times, and now, due to chronic illness and cancer, she is at risk of losing her apartment and her beloved beagle, Bob.

As always, "Once a Hodgepodge Pet, always a Hodgepodge Pet". We will take Bob back and put him in our Hardship Foster Program if we have to, but we are full up, and we would much rather not uproot him. It's best that he stay with his mom!! She is all he has known, and is his world! They are a great comfort to one another! We do everything that we can to keep pets with their owners. Please help us help them!

Our little Hannah Banana, AKA Shimmy Shimmy Shake, was adopted this weekend! She is going to live with a dog trainer and has her very own girl to call her own!! (Said girl wants to volunteer here at the rescue, so fingers crossed!)
Hannah is sweet and feisty all in one! She is going to have a whole pack of dogs to keep her busy!
Take good care of your girl, Hannah! We'll see you soon!

Banjo left today with his new family. Rarely do we have a person comment on our post stating that they want to adopt the pet, show up first thing at an event the next day to meet them, then turn in an application in less than 30 minutes!
That same adopter called their references and their vet's office to let them know we'd be calling them. They got glowing references from all, and all of them were very excited that they wanted to adopt Banjo!!

It was very quick and seamless! They only damper on the situation is that Daisy has lost her best friend. Her adopter's have offered to bring Banjo back here for play dates with her, and even extended that to whoever adopts Daisy!

We are so happy that Banjo was chosen and really, really wanted by this family! Have fun, little buddy! Looking forward to seeing you!

Our sweet Banjo went on a Meet and Greet yesterday, but the adopter's wanted a bigger dog.

Banjo is 14 lbs. He is a mix of a Shih Tzu, chihuahua, and Chinese Dragon. For real. Look at that tail!! He is a happy, initially shy, sweet boy who loves kids, other dogs, cats, mini pigs and every living thing. He is best friends with a dog named Daisy. He is also a great snuggler!

We are sad that he didn't get picked again, but we know that his perfect person is out there somewhere. And, he enjoyed his field trip and getting out for the day.

Dewey has moved on to his forever home with the Shugars family, and we couldn't be happier for them or that little guy! It was love at first sight when they met him, and they are committed to keeping him forever. (That's great news for him, because that poor boy, thru no fault of his or his fosters, has come back to us 3 separate times. This is his 7th home.)

Congratulations, little buddy!! Be a good boy and take care of your new family!

Update: As of this afternoon, we have only received $70.00 in donations towards Dude's bill.
We do everyrhing possible to keep costs down as to not have to constantly ask for donations. We asked the ER last night if they could make him stable enough that he could be transferred to another (more affordable) vet in the morning. We were told that he was crucial and the procedure couldn't wait. They required that 75% of the low estimate be paid to start treatment. There was $57.00 in the Rescue's acct. I paid $2,000.00 from my personal acct. so Dude could get help. Luckily, I had it, but those funds have to be replaced.

We have an emergency!!

Our cat, Dude, is at Mason Dixon Pet ER, with a suspected urinary blockage. He is lethargic and in a great deal of pain, and they are trying to help him.

Dude is one of several pets that we have in our Senior Pet Pairing Program. We place unadopted (mostly senior) pets with senior citizens. If financially possible, the pet is adopted by the senior. If not, they become permanent fosters in the rescue. This helps the pet physically leave the rescue to free up space, and to provide much needed companionship and love to a senior citizen.

Dude and his FIP survivor brother, Freddie, are very bonded, and both went to live together (yay!) as permanent fosters. They are very loved and happy there, and their foster dad is beside himself with worry!

Donations are at an all time low. We need your help NOW to save Dude!!

A huge thank you to Stacy and John for being the best fosters to Maple! They schlepped her to the vets, back forth to the ocean, and to lots of breweries (the sacrifice!) to get her exposure. She was a hard medical case, and they handled everything perfectly!

They found her the perfect adopter, handled the Meet and Greet, and after we spoke to the applicant, processed the application, and approved the adoption, they handed her over to her new family (after thoroughly explaining her dietary needs and Healthcare routine).

They made my job so much easier and their efforts are so appreciated!

Maple is the sweetest, kindest girl and really hard to let go. But, her adopter's are so excited - she has a great life ahead of her!

BCAS will hold our Fall Rabies Clinic on:

⏰ 9 a.m.–2 p.m.
📍 BCAS Spay/Neuter Surgical Center

🐶 Dogs, 🐱 cats and 🐾 ferrets at least 12 weeks old are eligible.

💉 $9 per animal — cash or check only
🚗 First come, first served
✅ No preregistration
✅ No proof of residency required

This will be our only rabies clinic this fall, so mark your calendars! Additional clinics will return in the spring.
