22 dogs rescued from one of South Carolina's largest animal cruelty cases are now safe at Charleston Animal Society after assisting our No Kill South Carolina Partner, Saint Frances Animal Center

More than 100 dogs and nearly a dozen cats were found living in horrific conditions, while over 125 deceased dogs were recovered.

These survivors have a second chance because of supporters like you.

Ruby Came into the shelter in May with severe infections in both her eyes. She was in pain and our team immediately worked to try to save her eyes. One way we treat these types of infections in kittens eyes is to use a dog blood donor and spin the blood into a serum. Canine blood serum is an innovative, highly effective veterinary treatment for healing severe corneal ulcers and eye infections in kittens. Because dogs are larger and easier to draw blood from than cats, their serum provides a rich, concentrated source of proteins and growth factors that help prevent corneal breakdown and accelerate healing. Sadly, Ruby's infection was left untreated for so long that both eyes had to be removed to save her life. Ruby spent weeks in her foster home while she recovered from her surgery as well as had her sutures removed. Now she is a happy-go-lucky kitty waiting for a new family. Come visit Ruby and all the animals at our Charleston Animal Society Berkeley Campus 131 Central Berkeley Drive. We are open Monday-Friday 12-3pm and Saturday and Sunday 10-5pm.
