at our Charleston Animal Society Berkeley Campus!

🌞 Christine shares an incredible update on Garfield, now named Cheeto, who embodies the spirit of joy and adventure!
She said "He is full of s***k, curious about all the things, loves to play."
He’s learned the art of playing fetch and he even brings us his toys to us when we are asleep.
He’s never met a stranger and always greets friends. He loves playing with his brother Boone, who is his littermate. Both are such sweet and cuddly kittens.

Heathcliff now goes by Boone. He’s such a sweet guy and has the cutest squeaky meow. He loves to play and chase his toys, wrestle with his brother Cheeto. He loves to cuddle and purrs whenever you pet him.

If you would like to see your adopted friend on an upcoming Happy Tails post, please email your update and photos to [email protected] We love hearing about your new family member.

Meet Cracker Jack!

at 8 months old, this boy has been through a lot. When he arrived he had hair loss and itchy skin and has been slowly recovering. He will be sent home with medicated shampoo for medicated baths to help him even more. Cracker Jack is in the Adoption Ambassador foster program. Foster families take animals into their homes and help them get adopted.

Congratulations to our Volunteer of the Month, Bekah Bradford!
For more than five years, Bekah has been a consistent presence in our “Mama Cat & Kitten Room” at the Charleston Campus. She volunteers multiple times each week, caring for the cats and kittens by cleaning kennels, providing fresh food and water, refreshing litter boxes, and giving them plenty of love and socialization.

Earlier this year, Bekah reached an incredible milestone: 1,000 hours of volunteer service!

Over the years, she has become an expert in cat care at the shelter and brings so much compassion, patience, and dedication to every interaction. Our staff is incredibly grateful to have such a consistent, skilled, and caring partner who always shows up for our cats. Thank you, Bekah!

And a huge thank you to our friends at for celebrating our volunteers with amazing prizes!

The world’s least serious game of tag. Who’s going to win? Arya or Nelly??

Both of these pups are ready to find their own people to play tag with.

If you’re looking for goofy dogs who are a little clumsy, wildly enthusiastic, and operating with roughly the decision-making skills of a 3-year-old, we may have exactly what you’re looking for.

Come meet our very serious players at the shelter this weekend!

Just 30 minutes of your day can make a world of difference to a shelter dog.

Life in a shelter is hard on dogs. Even the most resilient dogs can become stressed, withdrawn, or frustrated when they spend long periods in a kennel.

Our dogs need walks, cuddles, and one-on-one time with caring people. Volunteering doesn’t have to be a huge commitment. Even a short visit helps enrich their day, build their confidence, and remind them they’re loved.

Join our volunteer team and help a dog take a step closer to home.
