And yes — we’re OPEN TODAY from 12–3! 🐾❤️

We’re here 7 days a week, no matter the holiday or day of the week so why not be open to give someone a chance at a home. 🥰

Today, we’re featuring Akela. At 8 years old, this handsome gentleman is calm, gentle and incredibly friendly. He’s happiest simply being with his person and would make a wonderful, easygoing companion. ❤️

These photos are from one of Akela’s Doggy Day Outs with a volunteer, and we think you can see just how blessed he is to get a little time away from the shelter. 🥹🐾

🐾 GUS & GIGI ARE GROWING UP AT THE SHELTER. 🐾

These two sweet siblings have been here long enough that they’re starting to grow up right before our eyes. 💔

Gus & Gigi are bonded kittens who would really love to find a home together. They aren’t the type who need to be carried around or held constantly…in fact, they don’t particularly love being held.
But they enjoy having each other, and they’re looking for someone who will appreciate them for who they are. ❤️

They’re only about 4–5 months old. They deserve to grow up in a home, not a shelter.

If you’ve been thinking about adopting kittens, please consider Gus & Gigi. Two kittens, twice the fun, and they already come with their very best friend. 🐱🐱❤️

🚨 WE NEED HELP WITH KITTENS! 🚨

A box of tiny kittens was just dropped off at the shelter without their mom. 💔

Our first hope is that whoever found them can come back with Mom.
These babies need their mother if she is still out there.
***If Mom cannot be found, we need a nursing mother or an experienced bottle-baby foster who can provide the care they need.

🐾 If you can foster, bottle-feed, or know someone who can, please reach out to us ASAP.

To the people who brought these kittens to us , thank you for making sure they were somewhere safe.
You left before we could get your information, and we really need you to contact us.

🌸 POSY IS READY TO BLOOM IN A HOME! 🌸

Posy is 25 pounds of sweet, lovable girl who is good with both dogs and cats! 🐶🐱 And kids? Probably! As we always say, if the kids are respectful of dogs and know how to treat them kindly, Posy should do just fine. ❤️

She’s waiting here for someone to walk through the door and say, “That’s my girl.”

👉 Please come meet Posy! And if you’re looking for a dog around her size, we have several more wonderful dogs hoping their person walks through our doors, too.

Don’t let another day go by for these little ones. Come get in here at noon today and tomorrow and meet your new best friend! 🐾

Pepper will be one year old in November, and this beautiful Husky girl is ready for the life she deserves. 🐾

She’s very dog-friendly, incredibly sweet and a little timid—understandably so after coming from a situation where she simply wasn’t valued the way she should have been.

Now Pepper is hoping for something every dog deserves: the warmth, security and unconditional love of a home and family.

Meet Pepper at noon Saturday & Sunday, can test with kitties if visiting.

💔 STORM NEEDS OUT OF THE SHELTER.

Storm is 6 years old, and honestly, we really didn’t want to have to make this post.

She came to us as a stray and her owner did eventually call looking for her-but despite knowing exactly where Storm was, she never came to reclaim her.

What makes this even harder for us to understand is that her very first concern expressed was “Don’t spay her.”
When your pet is sitting in a shelter, stressed, unhappy and missing home, it’s difficult for us to understand how that can be the priority while she remains here waiting for someone to come for her.

And Storm is not doing well in the shelter environment. She is extremely vocal, frustrated and unhappy. She is telling us in the only way she knows how that she wants OUT. 💔

She deserves a family who is excited to have her, who will show up for her, and who will make her a priority.

Storm can be met at noon today, Saturday or Sunday. Please come meet her. She really, really needs someone to choose her. ❤️

*No kitties for Storm, meet & greet required with dogs in the home.

Cookie just shared good meal with her foster brothers 🐶🐶, had a bath 🛁 and is now posing perfectly for her photo shoot.📸🥰

Of course being adorable comes super naturally to this babe.

She is happy, happy, HAPPY.
Happy to be alive.
Happy to see you.
Happy to be included.
Happy to be wherever you are. 🥹

Cookie came to us because someone saw her situation and stepped in. They believed she deserved better, rescued her, got her vaccinated, made sure she was safe and then trusted us to help her find the next and best chapter of her life. And believe us… we intend to do exactly that.

Cookie is 2 years old, just under 30 pounds and is in a foster home with dogs and cats, she is good with everything and housebroke.

Cookie is ready.
Her bags are packed.

Whoever is lucky enough to be chosen by Cookie is getting one very special little dog. 🍪❤️🐾

We are so excited to see Carrie from Knuckleheads Brewhouse in Westmoreland representing in the finals of The Best Guinness Pour in Central NY 2026! ☘️🏆

And even more exciting for us… our animals are winners no matter who takes home the crown! ❤️

Every pint poured at the Grand Finale will directly benefit the Pints for Puppies initiative that includes HCHS as one of the chosen charities!

We are incredibly grateful to everyone involved in making this happen and to the businesses, bartenders, organizers and Guinness lovers who are turning a little friendly competition into something that makes a BIG difference for animals in need. 🐶🐱❤️

So if you’re looking for a reason to enjoy a Guinness, this is a pretty great one. 😉🍻
