It’s RVT Appreciation Week! 🐾

From preparing animals for surgery and assisting during procedures to providing compassionate care and supporting the many daily needs of our shelter animals, our RVTs do so much behind the scenes!

Their work goes far beyond what we can fit into one post, and their dedication makes a meaningful difference in the lives of animals that find themselves at SASA.

Rowdy was extended to Friday, October 23rd, due to medical concerns she is RESCUE ONLY. All other dogs were adopted, fostered or rescued! Thank you community!

🚨 FINAL CALL FOR 19 DOGS 🚨

We urgently need to find homes or fosters for the 19 dogs featured in this post by the end of day on Tuesday, October 20th. Adoption fees are WAIVED for these dogs.

Adoption Center Hours:

Sunday, October 18th | 3 PM - 7 PM (FINAL DOGS ONLY) | On Sundays, there will be a board outside the shelter listing our Final Call dogs, along with additional adoptable dogs who may have been evaluated or are puppies looking for homes. We’ll also have adoptable cats available to meet! Our doors will remain closed to walk-in traffic for safety reasons. Once you text us, please give us a moment to respond and we’ll be happy to assist you.

Every Sunday, our SASA staff and volunteers team up with one goal: getting dogs out into the yards to socialize, learn more about their personalities, and capture new photos to help them find homes! 🐾

Dale and Brennan, ADOPTED!

Check out our vet, Dr. Waymire, who recently took these two adorable siblings out for some Doggy Day Out fun! ❤️🐶

Here’s what he had to say about these sweet boys:

"Why would you chew on a leaf?" "Wait... what are you even doing right now?" "How did you get stuck like that?" "You can't eat that, it's made of plastic!" These are just a few examples of the mentally stimulating conversations you'll have if you adopt Dale (AND?/or) Brennan.

I can't count the number of times Brennan tried to jump over Dale, didn't come close to calculating his trajectory right, came up short, and then just stood and looked around high-centered on Dale with his back legs off the ground. Did they sit in the back seat of the car? No, they preferred to lay on the floor with their heads on the seats.

What they lack in grey matter they make up in heart. These two love everyone and everything, with boundless enthusiasm. They are eager to please and food motivated, and shouldn't be hard to train up, especially since they're not even full grown adults yet! They both actually walk pretty well on a leash, if kept separate. Together I can at least say they are good at making leash macramé.

They love to roughhouse with each other in the safety of the runs. From what I saw, mostly Brennan loves biting Dale while Dale lazily tolerates it, but I'm sure if I spent more time they'd both get a few good licks in.

Oh, they REALLY wanted to run towards the cats around the shelter. I don't know what they'd do if they actually got one, aside from getting smacked in the nose at least once or twice, but it's something to be aware of.
