On another episode of: PEOPLE SUCK! 😡

We received a call yesterday for a found, neglected ferret out in the sun. He was dumped near some industrial buildings & under a freeway. Once we received photos of his condition, we had the finder run him to our exotic vet while we made our way there. Unfortunately this kiddo was suffering, had an adrenal tumor, no appetite, & after running some bloodwork we made the call with our vet to humanely euthanize him ❤️‍🩹

Yes, ferrets are illegal here in California! Don’t worry, we already had connections & ferret rescue contacts to get him transported out of state if he was in healthy conditions. With that being said, it was most likely his owners could tell he was sickly & needed medical help, or even knew he needed euthanasia, but realized they’d get in trouble taking him to the vet (bc it’s illegal to own). So they did the worse thing possible for him, by dumping him onto the streets. A true death sentence for these guys. Suffering in the 90° heat, with no survival instincts out there & predators everywhere. Shame on you as a pet parent!!!

My husband & I loved this kiddo for the time we got to spend with him. We decided to name him Harry, as he reminded us of a harry snake 🤍 Also I’m obsessed with Gary de Snake from Zootopia so it went perfectly together.

Thank you to Dr. R & the vet staff for your compassion & help with this kiddo, as we helped him pass peacefully.

Last Tuesday, Lila was dropped off for her leg amputation… or so we thought 😳

If you don’t know the background story, her leg was completely broken after being a silly young bunny, trying to climb her x-pen. I’ve noticed the last week (pre surgery) however, she has put her weight on it & seemed like a normal bun. Before the procedure I asked the vet to take some x-rays to get a better idea of the break & also to make note of where to amputate. The vet called me back within minutes in absolute disbelief… HER LEG WAS HEALED!
A much needed miracle that only God would be able to do Himself. The vet was in such disbelief he x-rayed every leg of hers & even x-rayed the other vet in the hospital to make sure they didn’t mix up buns 😆
So, Lila gets to keep her leg! She is her spunky self & will be available for adoption soon. The vet mentioned she might have minimal to mild arthritis later in her life as her bones start to change in old age, but that’s common with most buns anyways.

Mila, her mama, did have her spay procedure that day & is recovering perfectly 🤎 She will be available for adoption soon too!

Any funds raised for this cause was put towards the exam, sedation, x-rays, & cost of Mama Mila’s surgery.

We are still in shock but amazed by this little bun’s resilience & the goodness of God! ❤️ Thank you to & his team for the excellent care as always.

On today’s daily dose of: I HATE PEOPLE 🙄

We received a message late at night on Saturday, regarding someone finding dumped guinea pigs near a canal. They found 4 alive near the hay, & 1 unfortunately went into the canal, where they were unable to save it. The next morning they visited the dumped scene & saved 1 more piggy. Our organization is unfortunately not in a position to intake possible pregos at the moment, so huge thank you to for intaking the females of this bunch (& Amy for fostering them!!).

One of the kiddos was a single male, which is in our foster care now 🖤 He’s around 4-5 months old & is extremely sweet. He’s a little on the malnourished side & is pretty small. This buddy needs a sweet name however, so comment suggestions below ⬇️

I truly don’t know how this perfect angel is still available for adoption 🥹 Henry is the sweetest little fluffy lionhead with so much to offer: litter box trained, great with kids & other pets, & a total sucker for head pets 🤎

We’re just as shocked as you are, but we believe his perfect forever home is still out there waiting for him 🏠 Please help us share this adorable boy so we can find his people soon!

Henry is approximately 1–2 years old & is looking for an indoor-only bunny home 🐰 He is not neutered, but we can help adopters get him neutered with a partnering vet.

To learn more about Henry, send us a DM, email [email protected], or check out our Petfinder. Applications are also available if you’re interested in giving this sweet boy the loving home he deserves 🫶🏼

*BROKEN BONE X-RAY IMAGES* ☢️🐰

Many of you may remember baby bun Lila, who was available for adoption. While in foster care, she got into some baby bunny chaos and injured her leg. Most likely from trying to climb her x-pen or jumping from someone’s arms, she suffered a closed fracture at her growth plate.
Accidents like this can happen, and it should not cost her her life.

After consulting with our vet, Lila will be having leg amputation surgery next week. The good news? Lila is incredibly resilient. This sweet girl is still super active, eating and drinking normally, and even standing on her back legs begging for treats 🤦🏼‍♀️ She truly is not letting this slow her down.

For now we’re keeping her confined, comfortable, and on pain medication until she can get the procedure she needs.

This was a heavy and unexpected expense. Lila’s surgery is estimated at around $1,500, and on the very same day, her mama Mila is also scheduled for her spay surgery for her long term health after having multiple litters.

We’ll be doing a fleece story sale to help raise funds, but if you feel led to donate toward Lila’s care, we would be beyond grateful. Every single dollar helps us give this sweet girl the second chance she deserves 🤎

We will of course keep you all updated on her procedure & post. She will be available for adoption once healed from surgery 🫶🏼

Flower would love to kick off summer in a forever home! ☀️

Flower is a single girl here at LHR, who may be best fit in a home as a single piggy. Her sass with other piggies can sometimes get the best of her, but her love for humans is so strong! She’d do best in a home cage adjacent to other piggies to still get that guinea pig interaction, or an active & social home to provide her lots of attention. We have tired a handful of different piggies with her, along with babies & neutered males, but unfortunately her sass gets the best of her & bonds cannot be made. She is around 2 years old & is an American guinea pig. She was saved from a huge, outdoor, neglect welfare case last October. Even after everything she has been through, her trust in humans is so strong & she craves cuddles. She is such a little love bug & will squeak at the sound of a ruffled bag, popping her head above the cage to see what you have for her!

If you’re interested in adopting Flower please email us at [email protected], DM us, or find out more about her on our Petfinder 🐹
