This morning while driving the morning pickup route, Jason narrowly avoided running over this poor little guy on 801. Thankfully he was able to pull over and catch him, so he’s hanging out with me at the academy.

Super friendly and adorable, and entirely unafraid of dogs- who needs a new kitten friend??

Dog of the week!

Ranger! Ranger-danger, fluffer-nutter, snuffalupagus, floofers, marshmallow, smooshy, ranger-bear…. Whatever we are calling him that day

Ranger is quite possibly the world’s, biggest, fluffiest puppy, and not even a year old yet. Ranger has been coming to school since he was just a wee little guy and has learned grooming desensitization (which is a really good thing with his coat) as well as general manners, leash skills, impulse control and hopefully comes home with just a smidge less energy at the end of the day 😂

Ranger is (don’t tell anyone) one of the staffs absolute favorites and often times we argue who gets to work with him that day. He is incredibly smart, gentle and kind and has great social skills.

Ranger is often used as our neutral dog for CGC class or for helping desensitize dog reactive dogs when he is here- so keep your eyes peeled for him if you come to class (he’s really not hard to miss)

We’ve officially moved to Randleman! Our new location is 7015 Faulkner Road in Randleman NC

We want to issue our biggest and most sincere thank you to all of our students who have had patience and grace with us over the last month.

Originally, the plan was to continue operating the mocksville location until Fall, and begin operating the Randleman location on a limited basis beginning in August.

Unfortunately, the day after our grand opening, one of our trainers took a bad fall at home and was going to need to be out for a month.

We are a small, family run business with a very dedicated and close staff. Losing one of our trainers for a few weeks meant a lot of chaos and scrambling in order to shift her clients around short notice, change group classes, and most notably, close the mocksville location early so that we could focus on getting the Randleman location up and running full time. We’ve all been working very hard to make sure that our clients continued to receive training and the incredibly personal care that we have always prided ourselves in offering.

Having to change our carefully laid out plans last minute, however, resulted in some communication issues, billing delays, scheduling confusion, and longer than anticipated shuttle hours as we adapted routes and procedures to accommodate everyone. The shuttle hours were particularly impacted while we worked out multiple trips to avoid having dogs ride for hours at a time. This was a trial and error process and while we tried very hard for it to be seamless, we are aware that it was most certainly not perfect!

Thankfully our long time clients have been patient, kind and understanding, and we hope that we have made up for any frustration with the absolute dedication and fantastic care that we deliver your dogs every day.

We are hopefully at a point now in the transition where we have worked out most of the kinks and communication should be less of an issue. We hope to have our new website and software up and running within the week, which will allow us to even further streamline our scheduling and billing.

We got into this business because we love helping people achieve better relationships with their dogs. We love training, we love seeing owners eyes light up when we show them what their dog can do. Every member of the staff has worked odd hours, slept at the academy some nights with the dogs, written training plans, consults and report cards at 3-4 AM, and otherwise poured their heart and soul into creating the type of training academy we would be proud to send our own dogs to.

Thank you for seeing our value through the confusion and sticking with us! And please tell your dogs we said hi. 👋

Dog of the week: Ollie!

( Or, the story of how a dog became a unit of measurement )

Ollie the Great Dane trained with us since she was a puppy- 10+ years. Ollie was a massive, sweet, gentle girl who folded up conveniently for storage on couches and chairs.

Ollie would board and train with owner/head trainer Shawn in her home- even sleeping by her son’s crib when he was a toddler.

Ollie was so large, that when she became a regular client we had to reconsider a lot of our equipment. Whenever we needed to upgrade or buy something, we would look at each other and say “yea, but would Ollie fit?”

Everything had to at *least* be Ollie sized. Every vehicle we purchased, every dog bed, every couch/chair etc, we would ask “sure it’s nice, but is it Ollie accessible??”

When we purchased our big giant shuttle bus for the dogs, the first thing I did was take a picture of us sitting in the back with our arms up and sent it to Ollies mom with the caption “What do you think? Will she fit?”

Ollie never got to ride the shuttle-bus. She passed just a few months ago, and lived a very long and very good life, especially for a Great Dane. She was loved by all of us here and will remain forever in our hearts- and forever as the standard unit of measurement.

Dog of the day!

This is Grady! Grady is an 8 year old GSD and the second of three dogs we have trained for his owners. Grady started coming in for training as a little baby fluffball with mismatched ears and tons of mischief. Now he’s all grown up and starting to get gray around the muzzle- but he’s still the same little fluffball in our eyes ❤

Grady’s older sister Metto was one of my favorite clients of all time, and when she crossed the bridge I cried right along with her family. She was a challenging puppy to work with but grew into a smart, beautiful, kind and gentle adult that we all adored.

It’s a privilege to get to watch our clients grow up and to be their second home. We love them like our own and we are there for our clients on the first day they bring their new baby home all the way until the day where they finally have to say goodbye.

Grady has many more years of spring pole stealing, soccer ball popping, equipment-quality control sampling with his family and with us and well cherish every day he comes to see us!
