OFFERED FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION

He’s A Natural Fluke aka “Fluke”

13yo 15.1h Tennessee Walking Horse Gelding

Fluke is a TOTAL Gentleman looking for a new zip code. Fluke came from a show horse background, but he’ll carry a flag, go on a trail ride, or plod around the arena.

Fluke is barefoot and lives out 24/7. He is a very easy keeper and so easy to handle. He stands great for the farrier and vet. He is UTD on his shots, Coggins, and a dental. He requires no maintenance that we know of. He rides nice and quiet in a single jointed snaffle. He draws a lot of confidence from his rider so if you’re a nervous rider Fluke is probably not for you.

I’m about to be out of the saddle for about 4 months due to my upcoming back surgery in mid-November.

The longest I’ve been out of the saddle is 3 months following my hip surgery in 2018.

Does that make me nervous?

No, and let me tell you why.

Foundation, foundation, foundation.

Jupiter has a solid foundation. SOLID. Creek also has an excellent foundation. They both are very sane with good brains.

When I’m ready to step back into the saddle I know I can take Creek and do 10-15 minutes of groundwork and he’ll be settled and ready. Jupiter will easily be the same. I also trust them both to take care of me. They know how to follow a feel for a one rein stop if I need it.

Buck actually talked about this a little in one of our clinics this fall. If he went out into his “pasture” (thousands of acres), and grabbed a horse that he’d turned out after they become a solid bridle horse, that foundation would be right there and he could saddle up and ride off.

Now, I’m no Buck so I’ll do a little groundwork first to make sure my horses feel like I want them to feel. I feel more confident though knowing the foundation is still there.

What’s the longest length of time you’ve been out of the saddle?

Poetikk’s mom came for a cold, windy lesson this morning!

Poetikk has come SO FAR in 6 weeks. I love this horse and will be so sad when he leaves. Sensitive, smart, SOFT…and his mom is a great leaner too!
