🧠🐾 What kind of thinker is your dog? And more importantly… what Hogwarts House would they be?! 🪄😂

We decided to have some fun with Susan Garrett’s Vito’s Thinking Game and see how some of our dogs fit into the four different thinking archetypes. Of course, Ari immediately decided each one also needed a Harry Potter House! ⚡️🏰

🐍 Kita — The Locked-On Thinker | Slytherin
Kita gets LOCKED IN! Once she understands the game, she is focused and ready to solve the problem. 🎯

🦅 Whiskey — The Hang-Back Thinker | Ravenclaw
Whiskey prefers to hang back, observe, and take in the situation before jumping into action. Thoughtful and analytical! 🤔

🦁 Echo — The Full-Throttle Thinker | Gryffindor
Echo was SO excited and enthusiastic that he sometimes got in his own way! 😂 He brought all the energy, all the excitement, and absolutely ZERO hesitation!

🦡 Athena — The Wanderer | Hufflepuff
Athena caught on quickly… but then decided licking my arm, giving me kisses, and staring at the door might be more interesting. 🤷‍♀️😂❤️

The fun thing about training is that every dog thinks, learns, and approaches challenges differently. There is no one-size-fits-all approach! Understanding how a dog naturally approaches a problem can help us become better trainers and better communicators. 🐕🧠

A HUGE THANK YOU FROM FIREHOUSE K9 ACADEMY

We want to take a moment to say THANK YOU — to every client, past and present, every family, and every friend who has supported us throughout this wild journey.

A little over a year ago, we started Firehouse K9 Academy with little more than what we felt was a calling from God, a passion for helping families and dogs live together peacefully, and a hope that we could help keep families from losing their beloved pets — the same way we once did.

What FKA has become in just one year has gone far beyond anything we could have imagined.

We’ve had the privilege of working with amazing people, incredible dogs and puppies, and wonderful families. Along the way, we’ve built friendships and relationships that we will always be grateful for. Most importantly, you trusted us with something incredibly important — your dogs, your families, and your confidence in us to help.

That trust means more to us than we can put into words.

Every person we’ve worked with has taught us something. Every dog has taught us something. And every experience has pushed us to become better trainers, better handlers, and better people.

We never want to stop learning. We never want to stop growing. And we never want to lose sight of why we started in the first place — to help, to serve, and to make a difference in the lives of dogs and the families who love them.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for an incredible first year. Thank you for believing in us, supporting us, recommending us, cheering us on, and allowing us to be part of your journey.

Firehouse K9 Academy has a new recruit, and this 5-month-old Golden Retriever is bringing ALL the energy! 🐶💪

Levi has everything you could want in a Golden—energy, affection, and loyalty—and now we’re going to put all that potential to work!

Levi will be completing a private training program with us, covering some important puppy basics while diving into a whole lot of obedience. We’ll be building structure, clarity, impulse control, and a solid foundation for the awesome dog he’s growing into.

We can’t wait to watch this guy learn, grow, and put in the work!

Remember those two puppies we rescued from the side of the highway? 🐾

Well, one of them is back with us—and through no fault of her own, Kita is getting another opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

At just 5 months old, Kita is already showing some impressive skills. She has a solid foundation in sit, down, place, up, off, recall, and loose-leash walking—and she’s only getting started!

Now we get to watch this little girl grow up, build confidence, strengthen her obedience, and become the best dog she can be.
