Meows & Mutts Rescue

Meows & Mutts Rescue We believe it is our responsibility to rescue orphaned cats and dogs from overcrowded shelters.

Meows and Mutts Rescue believes that it is our responsibility to care for those sick, weak, and abandoned cats and dogs who have no voice, and to rescue and re-home those who have no other chances. We do this by pulling animals from overcrowded shelters and off the streets, caring for them, having them spay and neutered and finding them loving homes with the help of our partner rescues in the northeast.

We leave June 7 ❤️ with a van FULL of sweet rescues. Please share and help us meet our goal.

⛽🚐 $5 FUEL UP FRIDAY — HELP US GET TO MARYLAND & CONNECTICUT! 🐾

The Meows and Mutts Rescue Express is getting ready to head north again soon, carrying precious cats and dogs toward adopters, fosters, and second chances in Maryland and Connecticut. ❤️

But rescue transport is expensive — especially with East Coast gas prices climbing higher and higher. 😵‍💫⛽ Between fuel, tolls, food, supplies, and vehicle expenses, these long trips add up fast.

🎯 Our Fuel Up Friday Goal: $1,200

If just 240 people donate $5, we can reach our goal and help keep this lifesaving transport rolling!

🐶 Every mile driven means lives saved.
🐱 Every tank filled means another animal gets a chance.
❤️ Every donation helps us continue saying YES to animals in need.

🐾 Update on Peekaboo the House Panther 🐾

At just 5 weeks old and a mighty 13 ounces, Peekaboo has officially decided she's too grown up for bottles.

The baby days are over.

The reign of terror has begun.

Her first rule of house pantherhood? No more bottles.

Her second rule? Soon she'll be graduating to "prey"—otherwise known as shoelaces, fingers, charging cords, and unsuspecting toes hiding under blankets. 😂

Every day, Peekaboo chooses violence. Tiny, adorable, ridiculously cute violence... but violence all the same.

She may fit in the palm of your hand, but don't let that fool you. In her mind, she's a 200-pound apex predator stalking the African savanna instead of the living room.

🖤🐈‍⬛ Like, follow, share, and comment if you're ready to keep up with The Adventures of Peekaboo the House Panther. Her bottle may be retired, but her criminal career is just getting started.

🖤 MEET PEEKABOO 🖤

A few weeks ago, Peekaboo was sick, hungry, and fighting for her life.

Today, her eye is improving, although she'll still need surgery in the future.

The problem?

Peekaboo now believes she's a black panther.

This would be more concerning if she didn't weigh just 12 ounces.

Every morning she wakes up and chooses violence—ambushing toys, attacking blankets, and terrorizing unsuspecting toes.

The vet says she's making great progress.

Peekaboo heard:

"Your panther training is complete."

One day she'll grow up to be a beautiful house panther. Until then, we're all living in fear of a 12-ounce apex predator. 🖤🐾😂

🐭 Tiny But Mighty — The Story of Mighty Mouse 🖤

Sometimes rescue is joyful. Sometimes it’s heartbreaking. And sometimes it’s both at the same time.

Recently, we took in several mama cats and babies from a family in Baldwin County who found themselves overwhelmed after people dumped unaltered cats on their property. One tiny kitten in particular has captured all of our hearts.

His name is Mighty Mouse. 🖤

Mighty Mouse is only about 1/3 the size of his littermate. While he has continued to hit milestones alongside his siblings, it is clear that something congenital is going on. Our vets can’t say for certain what caused it, but it may very well be the result of interbreeding in an unmanaged cat population.

His feral momma has not rejected him and continues to let him nurse alongside his sibling, which is something we are incredibly thankful for. His foster is also pouring endless care into helping him thrive. Right now, we simply do not know what the future holds for this tiny boy. We are cautiously optimistic, while also preparing our hearts for the possibility that his journey may be a short one.

This is why spay and neuter matters.

Not to place blame on the kind family who reached out for help — they did the right thing, and we are so thankful they trusted us to step in. But when unaltered animals are dumped in areas without resources to control the population, situations like this become inevitable, and innocent animals pay the price.

For now, though, Mighty Mouse is safe. He is warm, loved, has a full belly, and is surrounded by people rooting for him every single day. And sometimes, for rescue animals, that love means everything. 🖤

💔 THREE LITTLE HEARTS. ONE BIG LOSS. 💔

Meet Zilley and her babies, Squirrel and her brother.

These three tiny dogs have spent their whole lives together, loved by an older couple who cared deeply for them. But life took an unexpected turn, and their owners were forced to move with no way to take them along.

Imagine being older, scared, and suddenly losing the only home you’ve ever known.

When they were surrendered, their owners were heartbroken. These dogs weren’t “thrown away.” They were cherished. You can see it in their gentle eyes and the way they stay close together for comfort.

Now they need us.

Sweet mama Zilley is over 7 years old, and her babies are around 5. They all desperately need veterinary care:
🐾 Vaccines
🐾 Deworming
🐾 Spay/neuter surgeries
🐾 Dental care
🐾 Bloodwork for mama Zilley

Years of love have left their mark on these babies. Their little mouths need help. Their bodies are aging. But they still look up at people with trust and hope.

We are trying to raise approximately $250 per dog to give them the medical care they deserve and help them start over safely.

Senior dogs are so often overlooked. Everyone wants puppies. But older dogs love quietly, deeply, and faithfully. They deserve comfort. They deserve dignity. They deserve another chance.

🐯 Ripley & Benny’s “Feed the Tiny Tigers” Campaign 🐾
🐾 Ripley and Benny would like to officially thank everyone who supported their “Feed the Tiny Tigers Committee!” 😂🐱❤️
The boys are absolutely thrilled with the results of their very important mission to keep tiny kitten bellies full. After we asked for help feeding all of these hungry growing babies, a BIG box from Chewy packed full of kitten food showed up right on our doorstep today! 📦🐾
These former bottle babies are growing fast and eating us out of house and home, so this surprise could not have come at a better time. Ripley and Benny would like everyone to know that their snack emergency has been temporarily resolved thanks to all of you. 😂
