Your dog can’t pay attention to you on walks if you’re not giving them a reason to 👀🐕‍🦺

If they check in with you on their own, REWARD IT! 👏🏾

If they’re completely tuned out, randomly switch directions. Remind them: you go where I go, not the other way around. 😂 Once they start following your movement and checking in again, reward them!

And then… STAY CONSISTENT. 🔁 You’re teaching them that paying attention to you is part of the walk, not just something they do when you ask.

Your puppy doesn’t have to HATE the crate 😭👏🏾 You just have to teach them what you actually want them to do in there!

Try these 3 steps:

🐶 TREAT: Toss a treat in and let them RUN in after it! We want the crate to feel like a good place, not puppy jail 😂

⏳ WAIT: Don’t rush to let them back out. Wait for CALM. I personally look for them to lay down. If they try to come out, simply block the exit, back up, and let them try again.

🚪 RELEASE: Once they give you that calm behavior, THAT’S when the door opens! Use your release word, kissy sound, or gently guide them out if needed.

Then do it AGAINNNN. 👏🏾 As they get better, slowly make them stay calm a little longer before you release them.

The goal is for your puppy to learn: calm gets me out, not crashing out at the crate door. 😂

Dog Mama… you can’t be inconsistent and then call your DOG stubborn 😭😂

Monday jumping on you is funny. Tuesday you’re telling them to get down. Wednesday you’re too tired to correct it. Thursday you’re mad because “they KNOW better.” 👀

BABYYY… which one is it?! 😭

Your dog is learning from what you consistently ALLOW, not just what you occasionally correct.

If sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t, of course they’re gonna keep trying it! You haven’t given them a clear boundary to follow.

Before you say “my dog is just stubborn,” look at YOUR consistency first. 👏🏾

Same rules. Same expectations. Over and over again.
Give them a fair chance to actually understand what you want! 🐾💗

Dog Mama PLEASE stop trying to EXHAUST that dog into acting right 😭😂

Yes, your dog needs exercise!! But if the ONLY time they know how to calm down is when they are completely worn out… we gotta teach some SKILLS 👏🏾

🐾 Exercise their body
🧠 Work their brain
😌 AND teach them how to settle while they still have energy!

Because I am NOT finna run 5 miles every time I want some peace in my house 😂✋🏾

Teach the calm. Don’t just wait for the exhaustion!

Dog Mama, I don’t care if your dog can sit, spin, roll over AND give you a high five 😭👏🏾 If they can’t do those same things when LIFE is happening around them… we still got work to do!

Your dog might know “sit” in the kitchen 👏🏾 But can they sit when a dog walks by? 👀 Can they stay calm when guests come over? Can they hold that down when they’re excited?!

That doesn’t mean your dog DOESN’T know the command. It means you haven’t taught them how to apply it in those environments YET!

You have to be INTENTIONAL about practicing where you actually need the behavior. 🗣️

Don’t just train tricks. Train your dog how to LIVE with you!! 👏🏾🐾

Dog Mama… your dog might not be “hardheaded.” 😭 You might’ve accidentally taught them that the behavior WORKS!

They jump ➡️ you touch them. They bark ➡️ you respond. They pull ➡️ they get where they wanted to go.
And then we’re standing there like WHY DO YOU KEEP DOING THAT?! 😂 GIRL BECAUSE IT WORKED!!

Start asking yourself: “What is my dog getting out of this behavior?” 👀

Then change what works. THAT is where the training starts! 👏🏾🐾

Dog Mama… SIT means more than putting that b***y on the floor for .2 seconds 😂😭

If you want your dog to actually HOLD a command, you have to teach that part too!

🐾 Build the time little by little 🐾 Add small movements before big distance 🐾 And give them a clear RELEASE so they know when they’re done!

Stop expecting 5 minutes when y’all haven’t mastered 5 seconds yetttt 😭👏🏾 Give that baby a chance to WIN first!

STOP making teaching commands harder than it has to be 😭👏🏾

Teach that baby how to FOLLOW YOUR HAND first!! 🐶🫴🏾✨

Grab a treat, put it in your hand, and let them learn that following your hand = REWARD 🤩👏🏾
Once they understand that?? BABYYYY now we can WORK 😂🔥

You can start guiding them from position to position — sit, down, heel, place, WHATEVER you’re teaching! 👏🏾👏🏾
And eventually… TAKE THE TREAT AWAY 👀

Now they’re following that same hand WITHOUT you having to have food in it every single time 🙌🏾🐶

Make it EASY for them to understand you, Dog Mama!! Work smarter, not harder 😂💅🏾

Y’all be telling that dog STAY and then walking 10 feet away like they even know what’s going on 😭😂
BABY STEPS DOG MAMA!!

First, reward them for simply being STILL. I don’t care if you gotta stand right beside them! If they stayed put, THAT’S A WIN.

Then add ONE step. They stayed? REWARD THAT BABY! 👏🏾 They got up? Put them right back and TRY AGAINNNN.

Stop being so obsessed with getting to the final result that you skip the reps that actually get you there!
One step turns into two… two turns into five… and THAT’S how we build a solid stay. 🐶💕

Dog Mama… stop taking your dog’s behavior so personally 😭😂

They’re not plotting on you. They’re not waking up thinking, “How can I disrespect my mama today?” 😂

Sometimes the environment is just harder. Sometimes that “bad” behavior is STILL working for them. And sometimes they’re just having an off day!

Instead of immediately labeling them stubborn, bad, or hardheaded, ask yourself: What is this behavior telling me?

Training gets a whole lot easier when you stop fighting the behavior and start UNDERSTANDING it. 👏🏾
