Sammy - Seeking a Special Home
PLEASE SHARE.
Sammy is a spayed female dog, approximately 2 to 3 years old, who is current on all vaccinations and ready to find the right forever home.
Sammy's story began with hardship. After her original owner passed away, she was found alone in the home and has since been cared for, spayed, vaccinated, and given a second chance. Despite her difficult start, she is an affectionate and loving dog who enjoys being close to her people.
What Sammy Loves
-Very affectionate and enjoys attention from her trusted people
-Loves to run and play
-Has done well with every dog she has met
-Interested in cats and may chase them, but has not shown aggression toward them
-Kennel trained and comfortable sleeping in her kennel at night
-Enjoys having her own favorite chair to relax in
-Loves routine, companionship, and being part of a family
Sammy is also a very smart dog who enjoys learning. She already knows several commands, including sit, shake, down, up, and gentle. She follows directions well, learns quickly, and seems to genuinely enjoy having a job to do. With her athleticism and intelligence, she would likely excel in activities such as agility, obedience work, scent games, or other training-based activities that keep both her mind and body engaged.
What Sammy Needs:
Sammy is looking for an experienced dog owner who understands canine body language and is willing to continue helping her build confidence. While she is loving with many people, she has shown inconsistent behavior around some children, particularly boys. She has become uncomfortable around certain children and teenagers and has growled, lunged, or nipped in a few situations.
Because of this history, Sammy would do best in:
-An adult-only home, or a home with older, dog-savvy teenagers
-A family willing to carefully manage introductions to new people
-A home that can provide structure, patience, and continued training
-Someone experienced with rescue dogs or dogs that may have experienced past trauma
-An active home where she can run, play, and continue learning
It is important to know that Sammy has also formed wonderful bonds with many children and adults. She has lived successfully with some kids and has shown affection and loyalty to many people. Her reactions have been selective and somewhat unpredictable, which is why we want to find a home that can set her up for success and safely manage those situations.
Sammy deserves a family willing to look beyond her challenges and see the loving dog she truly is. She has a lot of love to give and thrives when she feels safe, understood, and included. She is bright, eager to learn, athletic, and affectionate. In the right home, we believe she has the potential to be an incredible companion.
