Summer means longer walks, hiking trips, swimming, vacations, dock diving, agility, and making memories with our best friends. But for some dogs, especially breeds predisposed to heart disease, an underlying arrhythmia can go completely unnoticed until it's too late.

Many owners are surprised to learn that Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM) and serious heart rhythm abnormalities often develop without obvious symptoms. Some dogs appear perfectly healthy while dangerous arrhythmias are occurring at home during normal daily activity.

A 24- or 48-hour Holter monitor records your dog's heart rhythm while they're comfortable in their own environment, providing information that a few minutes in the exam room simply cannot.
