Look what I have! I was never specifically trying for REW but knew I had a few potential carriers and I had secretly hoped one day I would be lucky enough to get one. When I first starting raising rabbits my very first foundation doe was a beautiful REW Netherland Dwarf. I wasn’t too sure about the variety at first but when the quality is there it’s one that quickly grows on you. I’m so excited to have my first REW Holland!

Harebell’s This Just In 💥📰 This sensational young buck is just shy of 4 months and has already picked up his first three show legs. He is absolutely oozing with breed type and personality. I have dreamed of making a holland buck of this caliber for several years now and am thrilled with what he has to offer as a future herd buck. I absolutely adore him!

Low res pic of a high quality baby. The evening lighting in my barn isn’t great but I just had to share this pre-junior doe I’m loving out of Harebell’s JT sired by Harebell’s Matchbox. We’re calling her Velocity 🏎️

We always have the best time at the Huckleberry Classic show and this year was no exception. Congratulations to all of the winners over the weekend!

Our young solid junior buck Harebell’s This Just In earned his 2nd and 3rd junior legs, including a nice variety win. Harebells Top Off (solid junior doe) earned her first two legs and a Best of Breed win under Callie Weber!

Our star of the show was Harebell’s Tiki (broken senior doe) who only needed one final leg for her grand championship, but ended up winning three new BOV/BOSV legs! It is not often that we get our senior does out to show between litters, so I am super excited everything lined up at the right time to make this happen.

The cherry on top was having the opportunity to watch Harebell’s Fanfare (broken senior buck) owned by Alix & Gemma win youth BEST IN SHOW! He has turned into a beautiful young buck and Gemma is doing such a wonderful job with him. Their new doe Harebell’s Cocoa Bean also won her junior class her first time out! Congratulations!

Finally introducing Harebell’s Cedar, a stylish young buck that is just starting to shape up. He was our feed bag model in our last post and he is a half brother to Justin!

I’ve had a lot of people ask me about our feeding routine lately so I thought I would make a post about it! I know feed is always a hot topic in the rabbit community, but this is just what’s been working for us :)

Pellets - We feed ADM PenPals Show 16% for all life stages of our rabbits. This nutritionally complete feed makes up the bulk of their daily diet. Adults get about 1/2 cup per day, and nursing mothers and babies are free fed. We have been feeding ADM for a little over a year now and have had excellent results. Our rabbits are well fleshed and conditioned, even from a young age. We have experienced virtually zero weanling enteritis since feeding this.

Hay - We free feed orchard or timothy grass hay to all of our nursing mothers, babies, and young juniors. Adults are given hay 1-2x a week. For our show team we will slightly reduce hay intake leading up to a show so that when hay is given during travel they will eat more eagerly.

Supplement - We ONLY supplement individual animals that need to gain or finish condition, typically mothers coming off litters, rabbits getting into show condition, and rabbits that are molting. We will also supplement pregnant does about 1 week prior to due date to help with milk production. We feed a textured supplement like Omolene or Heinold TNT for this purpose, about 1/2 - 1 TBS 3-5x a week depending on needs.

Veggies/Herbs/Fruit - We feed fresh foods maybe only 1-2x a month as a special treat. (Adults & older juniors only.) We will also offer greens during long show trips to help keep our bunnies eating. Their favorites are romaine, kale, spinach, parsley, cilantro, dandelion, raspberry leaves, apple, and banana.

The highlight of our weekend was Harebell’s This Just In winning Best of Variety from the junior buck class at the Glacier Rabbit Breeders show! (First leg!) Justin is only 11 weeks old but I think he will soon be one to be reckoned with. He gives me butterflies 🩵🦋
