🐾 Foster Friday Feature: Alize🐾

Meet Alize, a 6-year-old Boxer mix with a goofy personality, a love for toys, and enough charm to turn heads wherever she goes! ❤️🌟

You may recognize this girl from her appearances at community events and on the news. She’s quickly becoming a local celebrity, but there’s one thing Alize hasn’t found just yet: a family to call her own.

Alize came to us as an owner surrender in March. Since then, she’s been waiting for the right person to see what a wonderful companion she can be. She’s affectionate, playful, and always ready to make people smile. She’s also potty trained, crate trained, and a star at vet visits!

Her adoption fee has been generously sponsored, so you can focus on what really matters: giving Alize the loving home she deserves.

Alize will thrive with a family who appreciates her big personality and enthusiastic play style. Because of her high prey drive, she needs a home without cats, and because she can get rambunctious during play, a home without small children is best. She has done well around other dogs at community events, though careful introductions are important.

Alize may be a local celebrity, but what she really wants is to be somebody’s best friend. Someone to toss her favorite toys, laugh at her goofy antics, and love her not just for a day in the spotlight, but for all the ordinary days that make a house a home.

🐾 Happy Tail Tuesday! Meet Fancy! 🧡

Sometimes, all it takes is a little patience and a loving home to change an animal’s life forever!

Fresca at the shelter but now named Fancy, was found as a stray in a Walmart parking lot. At just 1 year and 9 months old, this beautiful tabby was ready to trade her days outdoors for the comfort and security of a loving home.

A little shy at first, Fresca was looking for someone who would give her the time and patience to let her sweet, gentle personality shine. She quickly made a splash at our recent adoption event at Gurley Leep, and before long, she found her happily ever after with Danielle!

Danielle shared some kind words about her adoption experience:

🐾 Small Tot, BIG personality! 🐾

This playful 3-year-old is ready to trade shelter life for a forever home! Small Tot came to us as a stray in May and has been working hard to build his confidence. Now, he’s ready for his next big adventure: finding his people!

Small Tot loves to play, knows his sit and shake like a pro, and has done great meeting other dogs and cats! He can be a little shy at times, so a home without young, rambunctious children would help him feel comfortable and continue to shine.

🐾 Join us tomorrow for a hands-on animal enrichment workshop! 🐾

We’re excited to continue our fall partnership with the St. Joseph County Public Library with another fun, hands-on program at the River Park Branch Library!

Join the Humane Society of St. Joseph County to learn how our rescue and foster programs help local animals and discover simple ways to enrich the lives of pets at home and in shelters.

You’ll also get to create fun enrichment projects for animals of all kinds:

• For the Felines: Custom cardboard scratchers
• For the Pups: Collaborative “Paw-casso” paintings
• For the Small Fries: DIY enrichment tubes for guinea pigs

❤️ Three cats. One unbreakable bond. One home needed. 🐾

A big thank-you to the South Bend Tribune for sharing the story of Oliver, Sunny and Jack, our special bonded trio who have been waiting nearly a year for a family of their own.

These three boys came to the Humane Society in November 2025 after losing their beloved owner. Though they struggled when first separated, being reunited helped them find comfort in each other. Today, they spend their days grooming, playing and curling up side by side.

Now, as the longest-residing cats currently in our care, they’re still waiting for someone willing to open their heart and home to all three of them. ❤️

• Oliver is an affectionate sweetheart who warms up with headbutts and cuddles.
• Sunny is a playful, mischievous orange boy full of curiosity.
• Jack is a gentle companion who loves joining the fun before settling in for some quiet time.

The best part? All three have sponsored adoption fees, so they can go home together at no cost!

These boys have already lost the home they once knew. Now, we hope to find them a family who will let them keep the one constant they have left: each other.
