Mocha is back!
She did a week long Stay & Train with me in July and now she’s back over the holiday weekend 🇺🇸

During Mocha’s time here, we will continue building on the foundational skills she learned in July and work on some fun, confidence building activities!
Mocha is such a sweet girl! I’m excited to have her back for a little bit 🫶🏼

Welcome Bourbon 🥃
Bourbon has been spending the weekend with me for some training!
During his stay, we have been working on all the puppy basics- socialization, confidence building, crate training, and foundational obedience skills.

Bourbon is doing great so far! He’s extremely biddable and excited to learn new things. It’s been so fun working with Bourbon and watching him soak everything in like a little sponge 🧽
He will be reunited with his owners tomorrow and I’ll be able to equip them with everything they need to survive puppyhood!

Gia is back for another training weekend!

Gia has done a handful of weekend Stay and Trains with me over the past year. I have been able to work with Gia and her family through the puppy basics, adolescence, and off leash Ecollar training 🐾

This weekend, Gia is back for a training refresher! She’ll be working on all of her skills and I’ll be able to find tune anything that may have gotten a bit rusty.

It has been such a joy watching Gia learn and grow! I’m honored to be a part of her training journey and love that I still get to see her periodically 🧡

DIY enrichment activity

What you’ll need:
-An old towel
-Your puppy’s kibble or favorite treats

1. Lay your towel out flat and sprinkle a handful of food onto the towel

2. Start folding/rolling your towel to create a long and skinny shape
*You can add more food into these layers if you’d like*

3. Tie your towel into a knot. You can change the tightness of your knot depending on how advanced your dog is. Make a tighter knot for an advanced puzzle solver and a looser knot for a beginner

4. Encourage your puppy to use their nose to sniff out the hidden treats. If they need extra help, you can place a few pieces of food on the outside of your knotted towel to entice them

This is a great activity to teach problem solving skills and a fun way for your puppy to get some mental stimulation 🧠
As we head into the weekend, I challenge you to feed your puppy their meals in a new way! Think outside of the bowl 😉

⭐️ Attention Bark, Bath, & Beyond daycare clients ⭐️

I am teaming up with Bark, Bath & Beyond Daycare and Training to offer training services to daycare pups!
Your dog would receive two short training sessions during their normal daycare day. Those sessions can be tailored to your needs! Whether you need help with adolescent behaviors or just need some basic obedience, training can be customized to focus on the things you need help with the most 🐾

Following each training day, you will receive videos and a written report to summarize what we practiced and explain what to work on at home.
In return, you are encouraged to send your own videos back and ask any questions you may have as we work together through your dog’s training journey!

Ozzy is testing out my new Day Stay program today!

She dropped off this morning and will be picked up later this evening. Ozzy has a day full of fun planned!
She had a nice walk this morning, followed by some playtime with one of my personal dogs 🐾 She will also get a fun enrichment activity this afternoon along with plenty of potty breaks and rest time 🐕

Ozzy was part of my Day Training program when she was just a little puppy. It’s so nice to see her again for the day!

🐾Surviving Puppyhood🐾

Naming commands 🗣️

Once your puppy is consistently and easily being lured into different positions (sit, down, stand, heel, etc.), you can start putting a name to those commands! We had to teach our puppies HOW to get into certain positions before we TELL them what to do.

Grab your leashed puppy and some treats, let’s get to training!
1. Start by luring your puppy, the same as you have been doing. As soon as your puppy get into the desired position, name it! For sit: lure your puppy’s head up, butt hits the floor, “sit”

2. Mark the behavior and reward your puppy. Ex: puppy sits, “yes” and give food reward. *Remember to reward your puppy in position*

3. Release your puppy from position before they choose to get up one their own. After marking and rewarding, give your puppy a release word (ex: “break”) and toss a treat away from you, giving puppy permission to move. This step will come in handy when we start teaching command duration later on!

As you do training sessions with your puppy remember:
-Keep sessions short! 10-15 minutes is enough for their little brains
-It’s okay to make mistakes! Don’t be too hard on yourself, striving for perfection
-Give yourself and your puppy grace! You are both learning new things
-Have fun! New puppies are so exciting, so full of joy. Training with your puppy should be fun

Welcome Bonnie 🌸

Bonnie is the newest member of my Day Training crew and she was so excited about her first day of school!

Bonnie is a super sweet girl who already knows a handful of commands, but needs a little extra work on leash skills and polite greetings. She also has quite a bit of prey drive, so we will be working on redirecting and reining that in!

Welcome to the All About Dogs family, Bonnie 🧡
