She has been mastering advanced obedience commands and off leash skills!

Scarlett has been such a fun little girl to work with! She has made wonderful progress and I can’t wait for Scarlett to be reunited with her owners to show off everything she’s learned 🧡

Raya and I ventured out on a field trip earlier this week!

Raya is going through an adolescent fear period where normal objects, noises, and people are a bit scary now. So we are working on socialization and confidence building especially during this time! For Raya’s outing, we found a bench to sit at a busy shopping plaza and people watched. Raya was able to watch people walking by, see shopping carts rolling past, and listen to car doors closing. She was rewarded staying calm, offering engagement, and observing without reacting 🐩

Raya is working through her fear period during my Day Training program. This gives me the chance to train with Raya a few days a week and coach her owner along the way!

Mabel headed home over the weekend 🍂

Mabel was with me for a few weeks working through my Stay and Train program! She worked on all the puppy basics- crate training, potty schedule, confidence building, and socialization. Mabel also learned basic obedience commands and got practice with settling skills.

I am so proud of Mabel and all of the progress she made during her time here! Mabel will still have some learning to do as she gets older, but she now has a wonderful foundation that her family can continue building on!

Keep training sessions short ⏱️
There are many benefits to keeping training sessions short!

-Most dogs (especially puppies) learn more through a 10-15 minute training session than an hour long one

-Short training sessions are extremely manageable, even for owners with a busy schedule

-A 10-15 minute session allows you to keep training positive and productive

-Puppies have short attention spans. Breaking up their training into small sessions encourages puppies to stay focused and engaged with you

-This also helps to avoid frustration and fatigue

During your short puppy training sessions- pick one or two skills to focus on, stay positive, reward often, have fun, and always end on a good note!

Did I expect to get absolutely drenched on our walk this morning? No, but sometimes that’s how the rain drop falls 💧☔️

I’m often asked, “Do you still train dogs outside if it’s raining or snowing?” And to answer that shortly, “Yes. Yes I do.”

Your dog’s needs are still the same, no matter the weather! I don’t love being out in the rain and snow, but my dog still has needs that must be fulfilled 🐾

Next time it’s a little rainy and dreary, I challenge you to head outside with your dog 🐶 Rain brings out all the good earthy smells. I’m sure your dog would love a sniffy walk!

Sawyer headed home last night 🏕️
Sawyer wrapped up his Board & Train with me and was reunited with his family!

During his time here, Sawyer learned advanced obedience skills- command duration, loose leash walking, threshold manners. He also gained off leash freedom and worked on not jumping when greeting people!

Last night was all about Sawyer’s family 🐕 I spent time training them and making sure they felt well equipped to maintain his training at home!

Sawyer headed home with a whole new skill set and his family headed home with all the tips, tricks, and tools they need to hold him accountable!

Updates from home: Walter

Walter is part of my Day Training program! He comes for training a few days each week and has been coming for a few months.
Walter started off learning all the basics, then moved on to advanced obedience commands, and is now mastering off leash skills 🐾 His owners have been doing their homework and have done a great job of applying Walter’s new skill set to their life!

“Walter wants to thank you for all your work with him so he is able to go away on weekend adventures with his parents and do fun things!“

I love seeing dogs and their owners gain confidence and freedom through training! Walter is the perfect example of that 🧡

Welcome Clyde to my Board and Train program!

Clyde is here for three weeks working through some dog reactivity issues. He will also be learning lots of new obedience commands, mastering loose leash walking, and gaining off leash reliability 🐾

Clyde was recently adopted after spending over three years in the shelter! I am so excited to have him here and help him become a well mannered boy for his new family 🧡
