🐾 It's the final round of our National Pet Month guessing game! 🐾

This week, meet Norman and Pam, a pair of feline opposites who somehow make the perfect match. 😸

Norman is a 6-year-old cat who was discovered by Susanne's son while out fishing. After being taken in, he turned out to be the sweetest, silliest, most loving kitty imaginable. πŸ’™

Pam, on the other hand, is a 3-year-old cat with plenty of sass and just the right amount of sweetness. She's a classic cat through and through, with a love for playtime... and maybe a little too much love for snacks. 😹

So, who do these two belong to?

🐱 Sarah
🐱 Brendon

It's Heat Awareness Day, and your pets are counting on you. 🌑️

Summer heat is on the way and it can be dangerous for our furry family members faster than you might think. Here are a few simple ways to keep them safe:

πŸš— Never leave pets in a parked car. Temps can become life-threatening in minutes.
🐾 Test the pavement before walks. If it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for their paws.
πŸ’§ Keep fresh, cool water available at all times.
🌿 Limit outdoor time during peak heat (10am–4pm).

Know the signs of heatstroke: heavy panting, excessive drooling, lethargy, or confusion. If you notice any of these, cool your pet down and call us right away.

Stay safe out there, from all of us at Gehrman Animal Hospital. 🐢🐱

Wishing everyone a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend! 🐾 Before the festivities kick off, here are a few reminders to keep your pets safe:

Cookout foods like corn cobs, skewers, onions, grapes, and anything containing xylitol can be dangerous for pets. Keep them away from the grill and the snack table!

If your pet is joining you near the water, never leave them unattended. Not all dogs are natural swimmers, and even strong swimmers can tire quickly.

Spending time outdoors means increased exposure to fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes. Make sure your pet is up to date on their monthly preventatives before heading out!

And with temperatures rising, watch for signs of overheating like excessive panting, drooling, or lethargy. Always have fresh water available and never leave your pet in a parked car.

From all of us at Gehrman Animal Hospital, have a wonderful long weekend! πŸΎπŸ’™

They're baaaaaack. 😩 Gnat season has arrived, and if you have noticed small, raised welts or red bumps on your dog recently, especially around the belly, groin, or ears, gnats are likely the culprit.

We know they can look pretty alarming at first glance, but here is the good news: gnat bites are usually more scary-looking than they are serious! Most pets experience mild irritation and the bumps tend to resolve on their own within a few days.

That said, keep an eye on your pet. If they are scratching excessively, the area looks infected, or you notice swelling or significant discomfort, it is worth giving us a call. We are always happy to take a look and make sure nothing more is going on. 🐾

The guessing game continues! 🐾 If you missed our first round, we are celebrating National Pet Month by matching our pets to our team members, and it is your job to figure out who belongs to who!

This week, meet Letty Lou (government name: Violet), quite possibly the chillest doodle to ever walk through our doors. You can actually spot her hanging out at the clinic a few days a week! She is a dedicated squirrel and rabbit chaser who would absolutely have no idea what to do if she ever caught one. πŸ˜‚ When she is not on patrol, she loves walks around the pond and regular trips to Bryant Lake Dog Park. Oh, and she is fully convinced she is a person β€” if you are not giving her attention, she will paw at you until you do. Most affectionate girl around. πŸΆπŸ’›

So, does Letty Lou belong to Bridget our Hospital Administrator, Dr. Jena, or our Lead CVT Suzy? Drop your guess in the comments and stay tuned for the reveal!
