OWNERS FOUND

Two female chocolate labs found south of Ghent!
No collars, no microchips. Looks like they have been running for a few days. Both very friendly.
They are currently being housed by the family that found them.
Please contact 320-282-0184 or 320-282-9190 if they are yours!

Our patient of the day is Jude, he is a MALE CALICO. You read that right. Male.

Male calico cats are incredibly rare because of the genetics behind their coloring. The genes for orange and black fur are carried on the X chromosome. Since typical male cats have one X and one Y chromosome, they usually can’t have both the orange and black coloring needed to create a calico pattern.

Every once in a while, though, a male cat is born with an extra X chromosome (XXY), allowing him to have both orange and black fur — making male calicos very uncommon. Estimates are often around 1 in 3,000 CALICO cats being male!

So when one walked through our doors today, we had to stop and appreciate his uniqueness!🖤🧡🤍

A little pregnancy update ❤️

As I get closer to meeting our newest little addition, I’ve made the decision to step back from after-hours emergency calls for the remainder of my pregnancy.

With just a week (or less) before baby will be here, I’m finding that the long days, unpredictable hours, and physical demands of emergency work are becoming a little more challenging than they used to be. While I’ve always wanted to be available for my patients whenever they need me, I also need to recognize when it’s time to slow down and take care of myself and this baby.

Our regular clinic hours will continue as usual, but after-hours emergencies will need to be directed to another facility. The closest emergency clinic is All City Pet Care (605-335-4004).

Thank you to all of our clients for your understanding and support as we prepare for this next chapter. ❤️ I’m looking forward to introducing our newest family member very, very soon!

We are so proud of her as she begins her schooling at K-State! The next 4 years are incredibly difficult but extremely rewarding and we can’t wait to watch her succeed! 🩺🐾
