🥁🥁🥁 Introducing our September Dog of The Month: Deke! We got to ask Deke’s mom a few questions about him, and got to fall a little more in love with him than we already are! 🥰🙂↕️💕
My favorite story is how I adopted him.
- I adopted him from the humane society 10 years ago after my best friend told me to “Get a dog!” When I was telling her how depressed I was. Literally the next day, I looked on the website, saw this derpy 1.5 year old terrier mutt, and knew that instant that he was going to be mine. My boss let me leave work early to go there and he was already meeting with a family. I met with him while they looked at other dogs, and he came up to me, rested his head on my leg and looked up at me with his sweet eyes. I walked straight to the counter and handed them my credit card.
Deke is my first dog. I had NO idea what I was doing. I had no supplies. I took him home and wanted to give him a bath right away. He was so scared but did well. I took a shower right after because I was covered in hair, when I came out he was laying on the couch in my spot, wet, sprawled out and sleeping so deeply. I think we both knew in that moment that is was meant to be. He is my soul dog.
Deke is so goofy. My favorite thing about him is his ears. Obviously they are adorable. I call them his antennas because they move in different directions all the time. He has tiny bottom teeth and when he is sleeping his mouth will be slightly open showing them and his tongue will stick out a tiny bit.
