In non-domesticated animal news... The 1st Fat Marmot Week winner is "A special boy who likes to eat rocks."

Dawn, fuzzy fat father who likes the taste of rocks, is officially the most popular yellow-bellied marmot in Gothic, Colo. The Fat Marmot Week contest is the brainchild of the Marmot Project, a long-term research initiative whose future hangs in the balance amid U.S. funding cuts.

Today is International Cat Day! Humans first began domesticating cats approximately 10,000 years ago, and today’s housecats retain many traits of their wild ancestors. Some people consider cats only partially domesticated when compared to dogs, because cats have undergone less selective breeding and differentiation for specific tasks. That said, cats are extremely well equipped for the most important job of all: dictating their whims and desires to their human servants and expecting full obedience. Riley came in to see us with an upset tummy recently. If your pet is exhibiting signs of intestinal distress–often through something liquid coming out of one end or the other!–bringing them to the vet can be a good idea. We can run some tests to figure out what’s wrong and get them started on a bland diet in the meantime. We carry prescription foods for dogs and cats that can help with sensitive stomachs, skin, allergies, and more!

Princess Diana came in for a wellness appointment recently and graced us with her regal presence. Our exotics veterinarian, Dr. Page, has so much expertise seeing exotic pets from reptiles to birds to small mammals. We love getting to meet them all and maybe even give them a few tasty bugs as a treat!
