Hi there! Just a little update from me. I am growing flowers on a much smaller scale this year, primarily for enjoyment, though if dahlia season is good to me, I may have some later summer/early fall bouquets available by request. ❤️

The good news is, I’ll have some richly colored fall bouquets at the today. The bad news is: this is likely the last market where I will have fresh flowers available. 😭 The heat and drought have really done a number on the flowers I was hoping would carry me through until frost—especially the dahlias. I will, however, be bringing some fun dried flower crafts to upcoming markets!

Are you ready for fall or still feeling summery? Either way, I’ll have a bouquet for you at tonight! Plus a precious few bunches featuring dahlias. They’ve been so slow to send out blooms this year!

Things are feeling a bit rough in the garden these days. Most of my dahlias are not happy where I planted them this year, so the blooms are coming very slowly, the timing of a few of my later successions of various things has not worked out, etc. etc. I am hoping that with some cooler September weather, things will feel a bit easier. All that said, I am quite excited about the late summer/autumnal vibe of what IS working out right now: Indian Summer rudbeckia Indian Summer, Hot Biscuits amaranth, Mahogany Splendor hibiscus, and Dawn Creek zinnias. 😍🌸

I’m so infatuated with these Dawn Creek zinnias. I was able to get a packet of seeds in their fundraiser last year and grew them in my backyard in 2022. I didn’t do any isolating or culling, meaning they were completely open pollinated (I also didn’t grow other zinnia varieties, though my neighbors may have). I carefully saved seeds from some of my favorite blooms, but I wasn’t sure how the second generation would turn out. Needless to say, they turned out beautifully. I pulled a couple of bright pink and yellow plants at the start of the season, but the vast majority have been these gorgeous blush, buff, apricot and creamy yellow color.
