Week 4 Graduation with Teacher Michelle

What an excellent group of puppies and parents! It’s always a blast being able to teach a room full of beings excited to learn together.

The last class ran long (we were having too much fun) so we weren’t able to capture all of the puppies and their parents in this photo, but each and every one of them was a gift to have in class.

11 years ago we were at the dog park. Me Cajun, Koivu, Riggins, Neil and some YDBFer friends. At this point in our history we had already identified what we had called "doggy daycare syndrome" in many of our client dogs. These are dogs that are chronically activated and on and struggle to be able to participate in anything other than WrestleMania type activities. Their ability to stay intimate with the life of their families was small and diminishing over time. We had already been to several dog daycares around the city and the country to consult and teach pack management. Most were beautiful facilities and just needed to fill a small operational gap, not knowing how to help a group of dogs do well together. Then the idea came. What if dog daycare was built around the understanding of dog parenting, Dog society and social/emotional development in our dogs? What if dog daycare was a campus instead of a kennel built on inclusion instead of incarceration? What if attendance at doggy daycare had a similar effect as a child's attendance at a good school? We don't send small children to penitentiary-like environments and expect them to turn out well adjusted and happy. Why are we doing this to our dogs? And with that, the dog Wellness Club was born, well, not born but conceived. At we manifested this dream into a reality and now we're going to do it a second time at

Our goal is that one day, all dogs in every neighborhood will have access to a dog-centric facility built around helping them learn and grow.
