After a thorough investigation, we found our criminal! I know most of you thought it was me but it wasn’t 🙄

And no, Poutine… It wasn’t Lana Del Rey. Don’t listen to him if he tries to tell you otherwise.

IT WAS PROZAC 😱

Here is the evidence that helped us conclude it was him. He was:
🔍 Spotted in the area right after
🔎 Seen roughly chewing on the cat grass earlier in the day

Additional clues:

🕵🏻‍♂️ He has a known love of nibbling on cat grass
🔍 Poutine was napping right next to me when I heard the pot break

That leaves Prozac because Lana was not in our home, Poutine. 😑 Stop making things up.

If you have multiple cats and suspect a behavior concern, look for clues to help you figure out which cat needs help. Don’t assume it’s one cat without evidence. I’ve had clients think one cat is doing something only to figure out it was a different one!

If you’re really not sure? Set up a security camera or if you need help figuring it out, set up a session and we can talk it over!

And no, Prozac is not in trouble. He was just enjoying some grass. The pot can be replaced!

A horrible, awful crime has occurred here at Class Act Cats HQ and we need your help solving it! Here is what happened:

At approximately 4:43pm, a broken pot was found on the ground. As if that wasn’t bad enough, a grizzly discovery was found nearby: cat grass savagely pulled from its nursery pot on the floor!

Thankfully, we’ve narrowed it down to three suspects:

Poutine:
🫆Claims he was napping peacefully
🫆Likes to chew on things
🫆Is often seen watching the birbs in the window where the grass was growing
🫆Insists it was actually Lana Del Rey

Prozac:
🫆Is hurt that he would be accused of a crime
🫆Likes to pluck baby leaves off Joey’s hoyas
🫆Runs a cult
🫆Willing to do dirty, nasty, illegal, immoral, and possibly dangerous things for a Churu

Joey:
🫆Is italian so probably has mafia ties
🫆Known to push catnip on sweet, innocent kittens
🫆Seen in a youtube video eating cat grass
🫆SHIFTY A.F.

We can’t figure out which absolute monster did something so horrible! Before we accuse someone innocent, who do YOU think did it? Was it Poutine, Prozac, or Joey? … and Poutine insists I include Lana Del Rey in the list of suspects. 🙄

Share your accusations and we’ll send them off to the detectives. Once we have enough evidence, we’ll reveal the results of our investigation.

It’s been a bit since I shared a Prozac update. He’s doing great overall since his scare in March. He’s able to use his front leg basically like normal and his back leg is at 90%. He still has a little trouble lifting it from time to time, but he’s generally able to jump, run, and be his usually goofy self.

I still need to take him in for follow up to investigate what could have caused it, but that will happen soon. I’m just happy he’s able to sniff the sniffs and enjoy life 🥰

Five years ago today, Class Act Cats was born! A lot has changed since then, but the core of my mission remains the same: helping people and their cats lead fulfilling lives together.

Cats can do some strange and confusing things. Even if you’ve had cats your whole life, you may end up with a cat whose behavior baffles you. You don’t have to be miserable and you also don’t have to make your cat miserable to be able to live together. It requires adapting like any relationship, but you can figure out a way to meet everyone’s needs.

Thank you to everyone who has trusted me to help with their cats, supported me, or otherwise been part of my journey the past few years. Your support is the reason I’m here!

And of course, thank you to Zoloft for getting me started on this journey and Poutine and Prozac for continuing on it with me. I couldn’t have done it without these special cats. 🥰

It’s a very heavy day in Minnesota. A year ago today, Melissa Hortman, her husband Mark, and their sweet dog Gilbert were assassinated in an act of political violence. I don’t even have words to sum up how horrifying of an act it was other than… he is such a monster that he killed their dog, too.

I really hope we start making real changes so this never has to happen again.

I get multiple emails, DMs, comments, etc. from people asking what to do with their cat each week. I’d love to help, but I can’t tell you what to do with your cat unless you’re a client. I want to explain why because some people are sometimes less than happy about it. 😬

On a basic level, it takes a lot of time to type up individual responses. I am one person. I tried training Poutine to reply to emails but he kept trying to email Inaba asking to send him Churu. 🙄 I only have so much time and each reply adds up!

More importantly, you *don’t* want me telling you what to do as a comment. I don’t know your full situation and might tell you the wrong thing. That quick question probably is more complicated than it seems. As an example of something I miss: all clients are required to send me a quick video tour of their home. The environment a cat lives in plays a huge role in their behavior. If the issue is environmental, I won’t know that.

Ethically, I can’t give you advice without knowing the full background on your cat(s). I can talk about cats in general so that doesn’t mean don’t ask questions related to a post!

It’s not fair to my clients for me to require payment and then just give out individual advice for free. They put a lot of trust in me and they have to be my priority. It takes time away from helping them.

That doesn’t mean I might not be able to help: If you are looking for tips on what to do with your cat(s), I have a lot of free resources on my blog and YouTube channel. I might have something that fits your situation!

I’m always looking for new content ideas so feel free to share suggestions. A comment from one of my videos gave me the inspiration to work on my next video about training multiple cats at the same time 👀 so share those requests!

If you don’t find something that fits your situation, I’m happy to take a full look at your situation during a consultation! More info and booking info on my website.

If you’re not a client, though, I can’t tell you what to do individually.

(And seriously. If you want a video or blog on a topic leave your suggestions. They get added to a list and if I notice themes they go up the priority list)

Bonding with your cat looks different for everyone. Sometimes it looks kinda weird. Take tonight for example: I’m pretty sure my neighbors think I’ve lost my marbles because I “hunted” with Poutine. He sat on the window perch and watched the birds fly by and I followed his gaze, asking him about what he was seeing. He would occasionally turn around to bunt me. He was purring the whole time.

It was goofy. We both had fun. Go do the silly thing with your cat. You won’t regret it.

What silly things do you and your cats like to do together?

Today is World Pet Memorial Day so, as I always do, I’m taking a moment to think about Zoloft. It’s been over two and half years that he’s been gone, but of the 1016 days since he passed not a single one has gone by that I haven’t thought of him. I think about the thunderous purrs, how he insisted on holding my left arm, and his love of office furniture constantly.

I want to share a poem that has given me comfort through the years. Hopefully it helps you, too, especially if you’re also missing a Siamese cat. Feel free to share a favorite memory of your special cats in the comments.

To A Siamese Cat by Michael Joseph

I shall walk in the sun alone
Whose golden light you loved;
I shall sleep alone
And, stirring, touch an empty place;
I shall write uninterrupted
(Would that your gentle paw
Could stay my moving pen just once again!)

I shall see beauty
But none to match your living grace;
I shall hear music
But not so sweet as the droning song
with which you loved me.

I shall fill my days
But I shall not, cannot forget;
Sleep soft, dear friend,
For while I live you shall not die.
