I recently launched my YouTube channel membership for those of you who want a bit more cat content, but realized I never announced it šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø Whoops. Anyway, if you want to support your favorite cat behavior pro (or Poutine’s snack habit) I have three membership levels to choose from.

Joining helps allow me to keep making content and you get something in return. You can get access to special emojis of a few cats you may recognize, the ability to submit questions for Q&A videos, extra photos of two cats, and more!

I am working on adding more content so some of it will start once I get a few people to join, but there are already a few fun items there.

That said, please keep in mind that it isn’t a replacement for setting a consultation if you have specific questions about your cats. You’ll get plenty of other enjoyment out of it, but I can’t tell you how to get your cat using the litter box in a Q&A video for example. Set up a session if you want specific help!

And remember, you can still subscribe for free to get notified when I post new videos.

Link is in the comments so the algorithm doesn’t get mad.

Today is Prozac’s Gotcha Day! With his health scare in the spring, this one is extra special because he almost wasn’t here to celebrate.

I didn’t intend to bring Prozac home when I did. I was struggling hard having just lost Zoloft and just wanted to go pet a cat at the shelter. I figured maybe there was a Siamese cat that needed some attention and I couldn’t stand being home alone. I spotted a cat named Paul as I tried to decide where to go. Something about his picture online made me want to visit him as he looked like he needed some love.

When I met him, he was hiding in a litter box, thin as could be, and terrified. I couldn’t leave him there so even though I probably wasn’t ready for another cat, he needed me.

Turns out, I needed him too.

Prozac is such a goofus. He sleeps in the weirdest positions, drools when he is happy, and constantly wants to show off his leggy. He went from being terrified of everything to being the biggest snuggle bug. He has the most precious meow. He is excellent at training and definitely has more brains than his brother 😬

I’m generally pretty skeptical, but I can’t help wondering if Zoloft helped push me toward visiting Prozac that day. We were both scared and hurting. I don’t think either of us would have healed without the other. He didn’t replace Z (that’s impossible), but he became something special in his own way. In a different way. Different isn’t bad.

I am so happy to have Prozac as my friend and companion. I suspect Poutine feels the same way some of the time. How lucky I am that I get to spend my days with such a sweet, purring little ham like Prozac. 🄰

Here’s to many more years of fun and leggies with Mr. Leggy!

It was 3 years ago today that my time with Zoloft came to an end. I still think about him every single day. I’ll be doing something completely unrelated and then I’ll randomly think of the time he ran into the living room, scooted his butt across the carpet, and then bolted out. I think about how much he loved sniffing broccoli or how my left arm is claimed by him because he loved holding it.

I know some people say you can just replace a pet, but they’re full of s**t. I love Poutine and Prozac, but they’re not Zoloft. That’s okay because it’s part of what made our time together so special (and what makes P&P so special, too). It’s why it hurts, but also why there is still joy in his memory.

I’ve had so many amazing things happen in the last year that wouldn’t have happened if Z hadn’t come into my life. He’s still part of me and he always will be.

But I miss him so much.

ā€œSleep soft, dear friend,
For while I live you shall not die.ā€

Thank you for being my friend, Zoloft.

The end of August is a difficult time around here so I’m taking a few days off next week. If you are a current client, get on my schedule soon so you don’t get off track! Prospective clients, it will likely be September by the time I have openings.

I will not be checking email during my time off so will get back to you after. Please remember to use the scheduling system to move appointments around if needed. You can just hit reschedule in the confirmation email for the appointment and find a new time!

I can be trendy, too. Kinda chic to clicker train with your cats. The cool kids train their cats!

Kinda chic to stop using a spray bottle on your cat and put it where it belongs: the trash. šŸ—‘ļø

Kinda chic to make sure your home has stuff for your cat to be a cat. You can find some pretty chic cat furniture these days!

(And definitely not chic to declaw your cat instead of getting scratchers)

Kinda chic to play with your cat every day. Yes, daily. Go get a Cat Dancer and have a play session.

Kinda chic to set up a session with Joey if you need behavior help for your cat šŸ˜ I’m here to figure out what to do next! More info on my website.

Poutine will probably join our session, too.

It’s hard to believe that in the year of our lord 2026 people still don’t think you can’t train cats. Cat training is fun and you can get cats to do some pretty neat things once you learn a few basics.

While we don’t always use training to solve behavior concerns (sometimes environmental modification, changing your behavior, using a desensitization protocol, or working with your vet to figure out if something medical is going on is more effective), it can also help get you cat’s behavior closer to how you’d like it. It can help cats feel more confident and reduce stress for everyone involved!

If you’re not sure where to start, I’ve got videos on my YouTube channel about cat training… including a new one out tomorrow šŸ‘€ I also am available for private lessons if you want individual advice or have tried training before without results. We probably just need to adjust what you’re doing to your individual cat!

But don’t just take my word for it: I know I’m not the only one out there who has trained their cat to do something cool! If you’ve trained your cat to do something, share it in the comments. It doesn’t have to be anything complicated because sometimes simple training is all you need.

Better yet, share a video of you training your cat and tag me in it. Let’s see those trainable cats! šŸ‘€

Poutine already voted in the primary*, but he encourages you to do the same if you haven’t already.

*For legal reasons Poutine did not actually vote in the primary. He tried, but he kept writing in ā€œCHURU!!!!ā€ for every candidate and his ballot was rejected.

I am very proud to share that that I’m the recipient of a whopping 9 Certificates of Excellence from the Cat Writers’ Association 2026 communication contest. Not only did my blog get recognized again this year, but my YouTube channel won two of them!

I’m especially proud to share one with my friend Mikel Delgado, PhD. It’s always more fun to do things with friends… including helping cats!

Thank you to everyone who helped organize the contest this year, the judges, and everyone who has read/watched my work.

And of course… Thank you to Poutine, Prozac, and my forever muse Zoloft. I wouldn’t be anywhere without these goofuses. 🄰
