Sometimes meeting a dog where they’re at looks like a trail.

Sometimes it looks like a stroller. 🐾

Cooper just had surgery, so right now his adventures look a little different. He’s not covering miles or charging down a trail.

But he still gets outside.

He still gets fresh air.

He still gets to sniff, watch the world go by, take in new sounds, and be part of what’s happening around him.

That still counts.

One of the things I talked about in our recent Shepherd Express feature is how important it is to me that Cooper still gets out and lives his best life — even as he gets older and his needs change.

And honestly, that philosophy applies to every dog we care for.

The goal isn’t to force every dog into the same version of “adventure.”

It’s to figure out what a good day looks like for that dog, right now.

For Cooper, today?

Apparently it’s a stroller, a cone, and a whole lot of neighborhood surveillance. 😂

In our recent Shepherd Express feature about Off Leash MKE, Lori talked about one of the things our team does best: figuring out what works for the individual dog in front of us.

And this handsome guy is the dog behind one of those stories.

Sometimes care looks like a Sniffari.

Sometimes it’s a carefully matched Adventure Club group.

Sometimes it’s enrichment, medications, or adapting the plan to what a pet needs that day.

And sometimes it’s discovering that the most effective way to convince a Bernese Mountain Dog that outside time is officially over is a little whipped cream. 😂

As Lori told Shepherd Express: “We get creative.”

There really isn’t one formula for great pet care.

We get to know your pet, learn what works for them, and meet them where they are.

That’s the good stuff.

f you’re looking for a fall outing where your dog can come too, we pulled together a few dog-friendly pumpkin farms around Milwaukee worth checking out.

Think scenic walks, pumpkins, corn mazes, farm animals, and plenty of very important seasonal sniffing. 🍂

We included spots in Mequon, Menomonee Falls, and a special pet-friendly pumpkin patch event in Beaver Dam.

Save this for your next fall adventure with your pup.
