Celebrating the inspiring achievements of our 2026 Project SEARCH interns! Their dedication and growth have made a lasting impact at the Zoo. Thank you County Executive David Crowley for joining us in honoring their journey.

Project SEARCH interns work in a variety of departments throughout the Zoo to gain skills in food service, retail, education, grounds, rides, and behind-the-scenes animal areas, which helps them with career exploration, along with key job skills.

Taking part in the Giraffe Feedings may cause giggles.

The Giraffe Experience presented by Miller Lite allows you to get eye-to-eye with the tallest animals at the Zoo. And, a portion of the proceeds directly supports conservation! The cost is $5 and feeding times are 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 2-3:30 p.m. daily.

See you soon!

Happy 1st birthday to bonobo Remi! 🎉

Over the past year, Remi has begun responding to his name, exploring his environment under his mother’s watchful eye, and transitioning to solid foods, though nursing will continue for several more years. Zookeepers note Remi's fondness for grapes and his vocalizations to engage with the team. Stop by the indoor habitat and wish him a happy birthday.💚

We are proud to collaborate with Zoological Society of Milwaukee and five other partners to create the 51st SAFE (Saving Animals From Extinction) program, recognized by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). The program will focus on reducing threats including poaching, habitat loss, and disease through field conservation, local engagement in the Democratic Republic of Congo and awareness efforts across AZA institutions.

Meet our newest arrivals! 💚 Three scimitar-horned oryx calves—Zaman, Yaji, and Yashi—have joined our herd! These births are particularly important, as scimitar-horned oryx are an Endangered species.

The oryx parents arrived here on a breeding recommendation as part of an Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) Species Survival Plan® (SSP) Program.

The oryx calves spent their first few months close to their mother’s side and can now be found in the African Waterhole habitat.
