Day 3 of vet tech week is starting off with, Ashley!

1.) What is your favorite way to spend a day off?
"My favorite way to spend a day off is enjoying a quiet day on our homestead. There is always something going on around here, but I love being outside, working on little projects, and spending time with my family. If I’m not home, I love starting the morning at a farmers market, finding a cute coffee shop, and ending the day with live music."

2.) What is a hobby you enjoy outside of work?
"I love crafting, I’m teaching myself to play guitar, and I spend a lot of my free time beekeeping. We currently have 8 bee colonies, so there is always something to check on, learn about, or get myself into with the bees."

3.) What made you fall in love with veterinary medicine?
"I’ve been in veterinary medicine for 14 years, and my career started in urgent care and emergency medicine. That is still very much where my heart lies. I also really enjoy surgery and anesthesia. I have a soft spot for the odd and interesting cases. I love the challenge and the critical thinking that comes with urgent care, so you’ll usually find me working as many urgent care shifts at KVC as I possibly can."

4.) What is something you most enjoy about veterinary medicine?
"I love the curveballs that each day brings! I enjoy a day that keeps me on my toes and makes me think. No two patients, or two days are ever the same, and I really enjoy that you never quite know what is going to walk through the door."

5.) What animals do you have at home?
"Where do I even start? We have a small homestead, so our animal family has grown quite a bit over the years. We have Kune Kune pigs, goats, chickens, turkeys, a cat, a brand new puppy and 8 bee colonies. Our homestead is definitely a busy place, but I love it!"

6.) Is there an animal you do not currently own, but wish you could?
"A tortoise!"

We are so lucky to have Ashley on our team!
