We received a call yesterday evening about this spicy noodle hanging out on someone's back patio in West Pensacola. Definitely not a good spot. Considering the homeowner has two small dogs, we decided relocation was the best option for all parties involved 🐍

This little guy was SQUIRRELEEEEE 🐿

I am so used to scooping up cottonmouths, this one really gave me a run for my money. Without the homeowner, I might not have caught him, as she was spotting me as he went back and forth and back and forth on either side of a fence to get away from me. And me running around like a crazy person after him, hook in hand. If a casual bystander had seen me they would have probably thought I was a lunatic πŸ˜…

I am happy to say that this clever little handsome man was successfully caught and released in a much better living space for him, where hopefully he can live a long happy life without running into any more people. You can see when I released him he was READY TO GO! πŸŽ‰

Normally when I release a cottonmouth they turn around immediately and start to chase me at full speed, mouth wide open so I can see their fangs.
(They are psychological masterminds and love to terrify their victims.) The ONLY reason he took off into the brush in the opposite direction, is because he heard a playground full of laughing children nearby so he went to scope it out. Everyone knows that a venomous snakes' favorite thing to do is to bite people for funsies so they don't have enough venom left to hunt πŸ₯΄

VERY special thank you to this wonderful homeowner for calling us to help this wayward little creature find his way home πŸ’š

One of our awesome page followers was in her car yesterday when she noticed this large rat snake in the middle of the road 🐍 Not wanting him to get hit by a car, she sent us a picture for positive identification, and then proceeded to move him into the treeline, out of harms way.

THIS IS THE WAY πŸ™ Please be mindful of the lowland creatures seeking higher ground after heavy rains. And if you come across one that needs help, please help *if you can safely do so*

We're just a text away if you need assistance making a positive identification. Please do not rely on Chat GPT or Google Images.

I am sad to report that unfortunately, this snake did not make it. Though he had no outward apparent injuries, the wonderful person that helped him went back to check on him this morning and he was right where she had left him, deceased. Though it is sad, his final moments of life on Earth were spent receiving loving kindness. And in the rescue world, with so much heartbreak, we have to realize that sometimes, that is enough. So thankful he wasn't left in the road to die of heatstroke on the pavement, and get run over again and again. In the treeline where he is now, he will feed others and return to the Earth πŸ’™

🚨 Eyes on the road. Pay attention when you're driving 🚨

One of our awesome volunteers found this little noodle just out there in her garden, living his best life 🐍

SHOW ME A CUTER SNAKE. I'LL WAIT.

According to Tara, he was successfully yoinked, booped, and released back into the land of tomatoes and zucchini, where he can continue his volunteer position, removing pests from her veggies πŸ’š

"Rattlesnakes are also among the most reasonable forms of dangerous wildlife: their first line of defense is to remain motionless; if you surprise them or cut off their retreat, they offer an audio warning; if you get too close, they head for cover. Venom is intended for prey so they're reluctant to bite, and 25 to 50 percent of all bites are dry, meaning that no venom is injected."

This rapscallion! I had to run full speed across the backyard and lunge to catch him, reaching him only about 2 seconds before my dog did 🦎
If Molly had gotten a hold of him there's no way I could have saved him, because listening to me is not her forte πŸ™„ I brought him to the front yard where he is safe among plants and lots of other little critters, so hopefully I'll see him again one day. His face is so funny to me. He looks like he's about to try and sell me a used car πŸ˜…

This is something I haven't shared publicly because it's been so stressful for me and my family. But for the last few weeks, I have been dealing with a stalker. A peeping Tom to be exact. Every time I step outside, he's there, lurking and hiding in the shadows. It has been giving me so much anxiety, I get nervous every time I step outside. The police wouldn't do anything, so I was forced to take matters into my own hands.

Today, I stood my ground.

After weeks of online therapy sessions, I finally found the courage to confront him. I went outside this afternoon, and there he was like always, waiting for me. Lurking and spying. I finally snapped! Thankfully, my weeks of online therapy training sessions kicked in. He tried to flee, but I wouldn't let him. He forced this confrontation by spying on me for weeks! But spy no more. I yoinked him, and booped him on the nose to show him who's boss!

Instantly, I felt like a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders, never to return ❀️

Let this be a gentle reminder to everyone to TAKE NO S*** from rough green snakes! They need to mind their own business!!! A yoink and a boop will teach their nosey butts a lesson πŸ˜…

We received a call earlier this week regarding this little noodle on someone's front porch near Perdido 🐍 The homeowner's recently moved here from out of state, and were naturally concerned as they have two very young children.

After finding out this was just a harmless black racer, the awesome homeowner was content to let it stay and move along on its own πŸ’š But she went a step further, and asked me about what she could do to educate herself on the snakes in our area, and is taking it upon herself to learn about them, and to especially try and learn to differentiate between non-venomous snakes and the four venomous snakes that can be found In the area where she lives. She has a very "live and let live" perspective and we love to see it!

These are my absolute FAVORITE relocation calls; where no relocation is needed ☺️

Thank you so much to this wonderful homeowner who, when finding a snake she was unsure of on her porch, picked up the phone instead of the shovel, and restored my faith in humanity in the process πŸ™ More of this please!

We love updates on our beautiful Aceso from our friends at Florida Native Snake Rehabilitation & Rescue πŸ’š Look at our girl! We have a wonderful news!!!

***For those of you that haven't been following her story, I will post links in chronological order down below***

We have just received word today, that FWC has granted guardianship over Aceso to our friends at Florida Native Snake Rehabilitation, as she is unreleasable. Though we had all hoped she would heal completely and be able to be returned to the wild, this is the second best outcome (we'll take it!) and a huge win for her πŸ₯³ She will live out her life with the very people that saved her, and go on to be a wonderful ambassador for her species, and educate people the world over πŸ’š

We love you Aceso! I never thought I could love a snake, but here I am, eyes filled with tears every time I see an update on her. I love hearing her sass the most. She was so defeated and quiet when she was in my possession, it was heartbreaking. But look at her now. She's come so far, I hope she goes all the way πŸ™
