Digging though our Forest Floor exhibit will never get old to me!

I’m thinking of making an even bigger one 😅
The only issue is a lot of these animals are moved back into their home enclosures when an event is done so it’s a lot of work to pick everyone out!

Only the dairy cow and powder orange isopods stay (and whomever I end up inevitably missing 😆)

We are a non-pickle household

So I figured I’d get a funny video of Chopper getting a pickle and probably spitting it out.

I was wrong 😆

Has anyone else used Embark?
I remember when we first rescued Cy, no one guessed correctly on his breeds.

Lemme see your pupper’s results!

The hardest part of working with mixed media is waiting for the paint/glue to dry 😆

Anywho, my Bug Guy 👑 came yesterday and gifted me with some new isopods!

I’ll try to remember to get a photo when they are situated 🙂

That puts me up to 11 species.
Those things are addicting!

And they have all been gifted to me 🥹
Bug loving friends are the best kind of people!

My newest piece.

Working on a name.

But thinking something to do with “eyes”

Welp— I decided it needed something else.
So I added snake shed (I know, shocker) and named it “Morpheus”

It’ll be at The Spot today along with another new piece :)

Who would have thought getting almost bitten in the face would make me this happy? 😆🐍

If you’ve ever met Sephora at a program, you know she’s always been… complicated when it comes to food.

Sephora is around 10 years old, but due to her rough start in life, she’s only about the size of a 2-year-old snake. Since the day I got her, getting her to eat consistently has been a challenge. Every meal has involved crossing my fingers, trying different approaches, and hoping she’d decide food was worth the effort.

Apparently, I finally found the secret sauce.

She’s eaten 3x in the last 5 weeks! Normally I’m lucky if she eats 6 times a year!

Today, when I opened her enclosure to feed her, she launched into full “WHERE’S MY DINNER?!” mode and came within about two inches of biting me in the face. 🤦‍♀️😂

Normally, a snake trying to tag your face would be a bad thing.

But for Sephora? A feeding response this strong is something I’ve dreamed of seeing for years.

So yes… today I celebrated almost getting bitten in the face by a boa. 🐍❤️

Sometimes progress doesn’t look like a picture-perfect moment.

Sometimes it looks like ducking out of the way while shouting, “THAT’S MY GIRL!”

Fun fact: Snakes that have struggled to eat can suddenly “flip a switch” once husbandry, confidence, health, or routine finally clicks into place. After years of worrying over every meal, seeing Sephora this enthusiastic is honestly one of the best signs I could ask for. 🥹💕

Well friends, I tried! 🐍⚔️

I worked really hard to get Tori’s Critters into the NJ Ren Faire this year, and they did seem interested… but I never received an official confirmation.

So tomorrow, we’ll just be attending as regular patrons — sans snakes. 🐍❌👑

And that’s okay!

We’ll enjoy the day, support the Faire, and keep trying for other similar events along the way. Hopefully next year we’ll be wandering the NJ Ren Faire with our scaly ambassadors in tow. 💚

Until then, if you see me there, feel free to say hello. I’ll be the one trying very hard not to point out every cool bug I spot. 😂

Onward to the next quest! 🛡️✨
