Well folks… lots has been going on down here at Hidden Valley lately. ☀️🐶🐿️

I know I don’t always post as many videos as some of you would probably like, but this is a working farm and there is ALWAYS something to do. Around here it’s up and at ‘em bright and early every morning. 😂

Today’s mission?
Find a new spot for Miss Poppy squirrel. 🐿️

I’ve absolutely loved having her around the yard these past 30+ days, but honestly… it’s getting harder and harder to keep her safe.

I’ve been periodically locking up the cats and only letting them out at certain times because I’m terrified one of them is eventually going to get her. Poppy has SOME healthy wild instincts now — the “oh that looks scary maybe I should stay away from it” instinct — but she also still has the:
“THERE’S MY MOM AND I DON’T CARE WHAT DANGERS EXIST BELOW!” instinct. 😅

And now…
she has decided jumping on strangers is fun.

She never hurts anybody and she doesn’t bite, but she absolutely will pop out of the woods, launch herself onto someone to say hello, frisk their pockets for hidden snacks, and then scamper around the yard like a tiny woodland bandit looking for treats. 😂

As funny and adorable as it is… this is where rehab gets hard.

Not everybody loves squirrels the way I do, and I have to think about her safety first.

So this morning I scouted out a brand new location:
far from the house,
far from the cats,
far from the dogs,
and away from all the things I worry could eventually get her into trouble.

Tonight once I catch her, she’ll be moved to her new spot. I already have her soft-release setup ready to go. She’ll stay in her enclosure for a few days while she settles in, I’ll continue tending to her, and then one day I’ll simply open the door and let her decide when she’s ready to come and go on her own.

She’s already proven herself. 💛

She’s been free over a month now…
climbing trees,
finding and burying nuts,
making squirrel friends,
and thriving.

I think she’s going to do just fine.

And of course…
I’ll still be checking on her. 🥹

Now moving on to the dogs because everybody is LOVING this beautiful weather lately! ☀️

Oh my goodness it’s gorgeous out. We could use a little rain, but I’m definitely not complaining too much.

A couple of the big dogs are due for grooming today, so that’s also on my never-ending bucket list. 😂✂️

We also have some bittersweet puppy updates:
• Kennedy from the St Patrick's Day litter goes home today
• Fitz goes home Monday
• And O’Reilly heads home on the 23rd 💛

I’ll probably move little Tux in with O’Reilly so he’s not alone… which brings me to our newest nickname situation. 😂

Everybody knows Tux originally got his name because he looks like he’s wearing a little tuxedo…

BUT…

The more I’ve gotten to know this dog, the more I swear his spirit animal is Chris Farley. 🤣

This dog is pure:
“WOOOOO! PARTY ON! LET’S GOOOOO!”

One minute he’s flying through life at full volume turning literally EVERYTHING into a toy…

…and the next minute he’s melted upside down in your lap begging for belly rubs with the sweetest cuddly little soul you’ve ever met.

The chaotic enthusiasm.
The confidence.
The innocence.
The absolute belief that he knows exactly what he’s doing when he absolutely does not. 😂

If you hear me calling him “Farley” in videos now and then…
that’s why. 🤍

We’ll also be taking a peek at the Sonic litter today!

Three of the five puppies have officially been chosen. I had a wonderful family here yesterday that is still deciding, and I THINK we may end up with one opening once all deposit holders have made their picks. I’ll keep everybody updated as soon as I know for sure who the final available puppy will be.

And of course we’ll check in on Mila and her little Cinco de Mayo babies too. 🌮🌶️💛

They are growing beautifully and Mila continues to impress me with what a wonderful mama she is. Their eyes still haven’t opened yet, so right now we’re firmly in the:
eat…
sleep…
grow…
repeat… stage. 😂

Not a whole lot to report yet besides full bellies, sleepy puppies, and one very attentive mama.

🌿☀️ Spring days, shade trees, happy dogs… and apparently fresh breath for everyone too. 🤣🦷
Miss Stella is spending a couple of weeks here at Hidden Valley while her family is in Washington helping their son through surgery, so first and most importantly we’re keeping them close in our thoughts and prayers during this time. ❤️
But Stella’s family surprised us with something so thoughtful and honestly pretty hilarious…
A giant bag of dental chews arrived in the mail for the whole crew. 😂
And when I say giant… I mean possibly the biggest bag of dental treats I’ve ever seen.
It reminded me of school days when somebody brought treats for the entire classroom. Only this classroom has paws, floppy ears, and absolutely no personal space. 🤣
Needless to say, the dogs were VERY interested in the delivery.
Everybody gathered under the shade trees for their special treat today, enjoying the beautiful spring weather, listening to the birds, watching everything turn green again after a very long Minnesota winter.
And yes… every dog got their fair share.
Well… some got a little more than their fair share depending on how fast they could sneak around the group. 😂
But honestly, with this many dogs together, we probably should keep everybody’s breath fresh and their teeth sparkling anyway. 🤣🦷✨
Thank you again to Stella’s wonderful family for thinking of all of us while they have so much on their minds. Your kindness absolutely made the dogs’ day. ❤️

𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒉𝒂𝒔 officially begun 🤍🥹
Today was a BIG milestone day for the Sonic litter…
4 weeks old and officially introduced to puppy food for the very first time!
And let me tell you… these babies did not mess around 🤣
The second that dish hit the floor it was: smack smack… slurp slurp… crunch crunch…
You can definitely tell there’s some Labradoodle in this crew because they went STRAIGHT to business 😂 no hesitation whatsoever. Tiny tails wagging, little faces covered in mush, and full commitment to the mission.
They absolutely loved it.
In fact… they loved it a little TOO much 😅
I actually had to take the food away because those little bellies got SO full I didn’t want anyone getting sick from overeating their first real meal.
If you’ve followed our journey for a while, then you already know what comes next…
🚽 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒃𝒐𝒙.
Now that solid food is entering the picture, mom slowly starts retiring from housekeeping duty 🤣 and I officially clock in full-time.
Since I unfortunately cannot stand in the puppy room with paper towels 24/7 😂 I introduce a litter box very early — usually around this stage — and it honestly amazes me every single litter how naturally they take to it.
Given the choice, puppies truly prefer having a designated “bathroom area.”
And honestly… I don’t know why more breeders don’t implement it because it makes SUCH a difference later for families.
These puppies are already beginning to learn: 🤍 where we sleep
🤍 where we eat
🤍 and where we potty
That early foundation carries over beautifully into potty training once they go home.
Right now they’re in that absolutely magical stage where they’re becoming tiny little dogs instead of newborn potatoes 🥹 and it is one of my favorite parts of raising puppies.
The personalities are starting to bloom…
the playing is increasing…
the little puppy growls are happening…
and now the munching has officially entered the chat 🤍

Well friends… 🌮🌵🎉
The newest Hidden Valley Doodles litter has officially been given their theme and I have to admit… at first I wasn’t quite sure where Lisa was going with this one 🤣
But then it hit me…
These precious babies were born on May 5th, making them our very own little Cinco de Mayo litter 💃🪅
For anyone like me who needed a quick refresher, Cinco de Mayo simply means “Fifth of May” in Spanish and celebrates Mexican culture, family, color, music, joy, and togetherness — and honestly… that feels pretty fitting for a puppy litter 🥹❤️
So let me introduce our tiny fiesta crew:
🌶 Jalapeño
🌮 Taco
🍹 Margarita
🥑 Guacamole (“Guac” for short because apparently we needed at least one puppy name to make me hungry every time I say it 🤣)
And can we just talk about these babies for a second…
They are only THREE DAYS OLD 😭
Still tiny little squeaky potatoes with sleepy faces, pink noses, milk bellies, and barely any fluff yet. Their eyes are still closed, their little legs wobble like noodles, and most of their day consists of eating, sleeping, and looking adorable enough to stop all productivity around here.
Miss Mila is doing an amazing job and is completely devoted to her babies. The nursery is peaceful, warm, sleepy, and absolutely full of love right now.
I have a feeling this litter is going to bring a whole lot of laughter, personality, and adorable moments to Hidden Valley over the next several weeks… and judging by the names alone, I already know this group is going to keep us entertained 🤣🪅

🌿 Good Morning Friends! 🌿
I thought it was time for a little Sonic litter update… and oh my goodness, you’re going to LOVE this stage 😍
These sweet babies will be 4 weeks old on Friday, which means we’re getting ready to introduce them to puppy food… but before we jump into that, I like to start them out with a little something special 💕
I use a high-calorie supplement called Nutri-Cal High Calorie Gel for Dogs — it’s commonly used as an appetite enhancer and for weight gain. I’ve actually used this many times with my wildlife rescue babies when they come in underweight or struggling… and it works wonders.
And guess what…
puppies LOVE it too! 😄
It’s the perfect gentle introduction to new tastes and helps get their little systems ready for the next step. As you’ll see in the video, they are all about it… little tails wagging, noses working, and not a drop going to waste 😂
But that’s not even the best part…
They are starting to:
🐾 Play with each other
👀 Recognize me (and always Mommy, of course 💕)
🎉 Show their little personalities
This is when things really start getting FUN!

The puppies are officially ready for visitors!
I’ll be reaching out soon to start scheduling times so you can come meet these amazing mini double doodles in person. I cannot wait for you to experience them 🥹

Well friends… let me tell you about the mystery of the disappearing puppy 😂
So as many of you know, we have been on full puppy watch with Miss Mila…
✔️ Ultrasound said: 5 puppies!
✔️ X-ray confirmed: 5 puppies!
Alright, perfect… we’re ready for FIVE beautiful babies 💕
Fast forward to delivery…
🐶 Puppy #1
🐶 Puppy #2
🐶 Puppy #3
🐶 Puppy #4
…and then… nothing.
Mila is peacefully resting, loving on her babies, acting like her job is DONE.
Meanwhile I’m over here like: 👀 “Ma’am… you still owe me one more puppy.”
Hours go by… still nothing.
So what do I do?
Load up this sweet, exhausted mama… take her away from her babies… and haul her into the scariest place on earth (in her opinion) — the vet clinic 😅
We do another x-ray…
Everyone’s looking…
Counting…
Double checking…
And then…
“Uh… there are only four puppies in here.”
Excuse me?? 🤣
So let me get this straight…
Ultrasound: 5
X-ray: 5
Mila: “Absolutely not. It’s 4 and I’m done.”
Turns out… Mila was right the whole time 🙃
So we packed up, apologized to our very confused and slightly offended mama, and headed home to her perfect FOUR healthy babies 💕
Moral of the story: 👉 Always trust your mama dog…
👉 And sometimes… even science gets outvoted by a determined doodle 😂
All is well, babies are thriving, and Mila is back home where she belongs ❤️

✨ WOW… that escalated quickly 😳🐾✨
Well friends… I have a surprising and exciting Mila update for you tonight!
If you’ve been following along, you know we were watching closely for signs of labor. Mila’s temperature dropped last night around 8:45 PM… and like most first-time mamas, I fully expected we had 12–24 hours before the real action began.
Ummm… not this girl 😅
At 2:35 AM, Miss Mila said,
“Hold my bone… I’ve got babies to deliver.”
👉 Just about 6 hours later, we had our first puppy on the ground… and from there things moved FAST.
As of now, we have FOUR beautiful, strong, healthy puppies 🐶🐶🐶🐶
…and we are patiently waiting on #5 to make their grand entrance.
A little educational moment 💡
In dogs, once that temperature drops (usually to around 98–99°), labor typically follows within 12–24 hours. That “Stage 1” phase is when moms nest, pant, and prepare…
👉 Mila skipped the memo and went straight to business 😂
Her Stage 1 was short and sweet, which can happen when everything lines up just right.
And can we talk about her first-time mom moment… 🤣
When that first puppy arrived, I gently placed the baby near her and she looked at me like:
“Ma’am… what is that and why are you giving it to me?”
No sniff. No interest. Just a hard pass.
But give her about 5 minutes… and something clicked 💡
By the time puppy #2 arrived, she realized…
“Oh… THESE are mine 😍”
And just like that—instinct kicked in.
Now she is: ✨ Cleaning them
✨ Nurturing them
✨ Completely in love with her babies
And honestly… doing an incredible job
Also… let’s just say it…
Mila is apparently a professional baby cooker 😏🍞🐾
Her due date wasn’t until the 9th… and here we are on the 5th with a full production underway!
A few days early, but these babies came out strong, active, and ready.
We’ll keep you posted as we wait for the final arrival…
but for now, our nursery is already filled with tiny squeaks and full hearts 🤍

I hear it all the time — “We want a girl.”

💙 Goofy, loyal, and eager to please
💙 A little more “ride or die” with their person
And truthfully…
every one of my personal heart dogs has been a boy.
O’Reilly has that same kind of soul.

☘️ THEY TOUCHED GRASS!!! ☘️
Today was the BIG day…
The St. Patrick’s Day puppies officially graduated to OUTDOOR ADVENTURES 💚🐾
And let me tell you… it did NOT disappoint 😂
✔️ Grass was sniffed
✔️ Grass was tasted (apparently it’s delicious??)
✔️ Zoomies were activated
✔️ Confidence levels = rising by the minute
We moved their play setup outside so they could explore safely—with shade, water, and all the comforts they’re used to… just with a whole new world wrapped around it.
The funniest part?
If I so much as peek around the corner…
FULL PANIC MODE
“WHERE DID SHE GO?!”
Cue the cutest little squawking chorus you’ve ever heard 🤣💕
This is such an important stage for them—
New sounds, new sights, new textures… this is where brave, happy, well-rounded puppies are made.
And thanks to Minnesota finally cooperating ☀️… these babies got the PERFECT first day.
I am one proud puppy mama today 💚🐾

✨🐾 Big news from Hidden Valley Doodles… 🐾✨
Today was the big day… Mila had her official puppy count X-ray ❤️
And just like that, we got a beautiful little glimpse into the life she’s been quietly growing…
We see FIVE precious souls. 🥹
Now… there’s always a chance one is playing hide-and-seek in there—but at this stage, they’re getting pretty hard to hide 💕
Mila is 54 days along, and everything is looking just the way we hoped.
She did give us a bit of a scare around day 46, but since then… she has been doing amazing. Steady, calm, and taking it all in stride like the sweet girl she is.
And let me tell you something that melted my heart…
When we looked at the X-ray, those babies are all tucked together in one little bundle. Not stretched out… not spaced apart… just snuggled up in a tight little group, like they already know each other 🥰
You can hardly tell where one begins and another ends.
After seeing so many litters over the years, it never stops amazing me how each one has its own story—even now. Some line up neatly… some scatter about…
…but this crew?
They’re already a little cuddle pile 💛
We can feel them.
We can see them moving.
And now… we’ve seen where they are.
Mila is resting peacefully in the nursery tonight…
and now…
✨ we wait. ✨

✨ Good Morning Hidden Valley Family ✨
There’s been a whole lot of shuffling, wiggling, growing, and preparing happening behind the scenes over here… and I just had to share a little peek with you all 💛
Our Sonic litter has officially upgraded to a bigger bedroom 🏡🐾
…and let me tell you—they are on the move now! Exploring, wobbling, and figuring out this big wide world one tiny step at a time.
Meanwhile, our St. Patrick’s Day babies have moved into the middle section and are doing AMAZING 🍀
They are now:
Fully weaned ✔️
Eating both hard & soft food ✔️
Gaining weight beautifully ✔️
Next big adventure…
👉 OUTSIDE TIME (as soon as this chilly weather cooperates!)
Oh I cannot WAIT to see their little faces when those paws hit grass for the first time 🌱🥹
And just a little side note…
A couple of these smart little stinkers have already figured out how to untie my shoes 😂
Soooo… lesson learned:
👉 Slip-ons only for chores from here on out!
Now… all of this hustle and bustle is leading up to something very special 💕
Little Miss Mila arrives this afternoon 🐾💛
But first—she has an important stop:
👉 A vet visit for her X-ray so we can get an official puppy count!
After that…
🎬 The movies are picked
🍿 The popcorn machine is READY
💧 Hydration is stocked
And we will officially be on…
✨ PUPPY WATCH ✨
Please keep Mila in your thoughts as we head into these final days.
We are getting so close to meeting her sweet, already-loved babies 💛
