Calling all volunteers!!! Do you want to make a difference in an animal's life but aren't super interested in p**p duty or extra walks? We get it.. That's why we're starting up a fundraising committee! If planning, working, and attending events is more your speed, join us on Tuesday, June 16th, for a brainstorming meeting!
We'll be meeting at 6PM at 2231 35th St in Spirit Lake

🐶 Or 🐱 Which box do you think collected the most money?

A wonderful couple who got married last weekend stopped by the Humane Society of Northwest Iowa with a donation that really touched our hearts.

At their wedding, they placed two donation boxes for guests. One was labeled Dogs and one was labeled Cats. Guests could choose which box to donate to, and together they raised an amazing $131 and change for the animals in our care.

We are so grateful for this thoughtful and generous gift. It was such a selfless way to celebrate their special day, and we are honored they chose to support homeless animals through their wedding celebration.

Please join us in congratulating the newlyweds, Mr. & Mrs. Lee from Texas, and thanking them for their generosity and kindness toward animals in need.

**DISCLAIMER**
Proof of ownership, as well as having a current rabies and distemper vaccination, is REQUIRED by law to claim an impounded animal. The state of Iowa’s law dictates that HSNWIA legally cannot release the animal until this is resolved. If this is the case, we will get that done prior to release at the owner's expense. If the animal is not claimed after 5 days, HSNWIA assumes ownership of the animal. Until they are completely vetted, the impounded animal is NOT available for adoption!

From TNR to transports to taking Kittle out to training, Greater Good Charities has been such a blessing to all of the animal rescue organizations in the lakes area and beyond. We look forward to continuing our partnership with them and a potential TNR event this fall 🐾❤️

This past weekend Raven got to experience a little bit of what makes Okoboji summers so special 🩷
She started her morning with a breakfast bowl from Topog, then took a nice long walk around Pillsbury point, strolled through the farmers market to pick up some treats, and ended her day at Silo Ridge Peony Farm with lots of flowers to sniff and a few photos! Raven had so much fun that she instantly fell asleep in the car on the ride back to the shelter.
Raven is a great listener, is a very good on leash, and did such an amazing job with all of the new people, places, and sniffs! If you are looking for a new adventure buddy, Raven is your girl!

And he's off! 💙✈️It was a bittersweet goodbye this morning, but we know in our hearts that this program is Kittle’s best...

And he's off! 💙✈️
It was a bittersweet goodbye this morning, but we know in our hearts that this program is Kittle’s best chance for a happy future. Every dollar, every share, and every bit of support made all the difference. It truly takes a village, and we are so incredibly grateful for the one we have the privilege of being a part of. We simply could not do this work without you.

We want to take an extra moment to thank a few people who went above and beyond to give Kittle this second chance:

Thank you to Tyler Peters, who, just in the nick of time, donated the remaining $1,478 in memory of his friend Bill Prentice to secure Kittle's spot in the program.

Thank you to Shawn O'Connor, who has offered to adopt Kittle once he graduates from this training program and give him the loving home we know he deserves.

Thank you to Brea Stricker and the HSNWIA staff for never losing faith in this sweet boy and for exploring every possible option for months until Happy Tails Happy Homes had an opening.

We will keep everyone updated on Kittle's progress as he settles into his training. Thank you all for being such an important part of his journey and for helping us give him the life he deserves!
