THIS IS WHAT JUST ONE DAY AT AN ANIMAL SHELTER LOOKS LIKE. 💔
These precious kittens were brought to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center today, and their condition is heartbreaking.
They are suffering from severe upper respiratory infections and painful eye infections. They are just babies. They should be healthy, playful, curious, and enjoying the simple joys of being kittens. Instead, they are facing medical treatments, discomfort, and an uncertain road to recovery.
Sadly, we believe one or possibly two of these kittens may need to have an eye removed because of the severity of their infections.
They deserve so much better.
We know these photos are difficult to look at. Believe us, they are even harder to see in person. But this is the reality of animal welfare. This is what just ONE day can look like at an animal shelter. Behind every adorable adoption photo are animals who arrive sick, injured, frightened, neglected, or simply unwanted.
These kittens did not ask to be born into a world where they would suffer. They deserve kindness, compassion, medical care, and the opportunity to live happy, healthy lives.
THIS IS WHY SPAYING AND NEUTERING IS SO IMPORTANT!
There are simply too many animals being born without enough loving homes to care for them. Spaying and neutering prevents unwanted litters and helps reduce the suffering we see every single day.
We are asking everyone to please treat animals with the kindness and respect they deserve. They are living, breathing creatures who depend on us to protect them.
Our team will do everything possible to give these kittens the medical care, comfort, and love they need. We would certainly appreciate your kind thoughts and well wishes as they begin treatment and recovery.

🐾 VOLUNTEER: We will be holding our next volunteer orientation in November! If you have been thinking about volunteering, now is a wonderful time to get involved. Visit www.qcawc.org for information and to sign up.
🐾 FOSTER: We desperately need more foster homes. Opening your home temporarily to an animal in need gives that animal a safe place to heal, grow, and prepare for adoption. We provide the supplies. You provide the love.
🐾 DONATE SUPPLIES: Pet food, kitten food, cat food, and cleaning supplies are always needed. With so many animals depending on us, we go through an incredible amount of supplies every day.
🐾 SHARE OUR POSTS: It costs absolutely nothing to share an adoptable animal's photo. That one simple click could help an animal find the family they have been waiting for.
🐾 ADOPT: We often say that when you adopt one animal, you save TWO lives. You give one deserving animal a loving home, and you open up space at our shelter so we can help another animal in need. That is the incredible power of adoption!
We know we cannot save every animal, but we will never stop trying to make a difference for the ones who come through our doors.
Some days are filled with happy adoptions, wagging tails, and purring kittens. Other days are filled with heartbreak, difficult medical decisions, and animals who need more help than we ever imagined.
Today is one of those difficult days.

And to these precious little kittens, we promise you that you are safe now, you are loved, and we are going to do everything we can to help you feel better.
