🌙 Hi, I’m Luna — and I’ve Been Hearing All About the Good Life!

My kennel mates have been telling me about the good life — soft beds, warm homes, belly rubs on the couch, and families who love you just for being you. Three of my siblings have already been adopted, and I’ve heard they’re thriving. I’m so happy for them… and I’m hoping it’s my turn next.

I’m a social girl who loves people, attention, and I like to soak up affection like sunshine and lean in close for pets.

I dream about the day I’ll get to leave the kennel behind and start my own new chapter — one filled with cozy naps, fun adventures, and a family who sees how special I am. I’m ready for love, ready for a home, and ready to shine just like my siblings.

GINGER’S ADOPTION STORY

A Little Spice, A Big Love

My husband and I adopted Ginger, a chocolate Lab, from Lab Rescue of Greater Richmond on November 19, 2022. From the moment she joined our family, she’s been pure joy, sweet, loving, and full of personality. Ginger believes every person and dog is a friend. She adores her walks, her doggie pals, and soaking up the sun in her fenced backyard.

Before Ginger, we had another chocolate Lab who was a cherished gift. Losing her was heartbreaking, and for a long time, I wasn’t sure I could open my heart again. But when I finally decided to adopt, Ginger reminded me that love always finds its way back.

Adopting a rescue takes patience,sometimes the dog you hope for is already adopted, but it’s worth every moment of waiting. Ginger didn’t just find a family; she transformed ours, filling our home with calm sweetness and endless love.

💛 Hi, I’m Gus — Proud Dad and Gentle Soul

Have you heard? My kids, Daisy, Houdini, and Aspen went off to start their new lives. I’ve heard they’re doing great. That’s all a dad could hope for, really. Knowing they’re safe, loved, and learning what it means to be part of a family fills my heart with pride. I picture them chasing toys, curling up on couches, and soaking up all the love they deserve. It’s bittersweet, but mostly it’s joy — the kind you feel when you know your pups have found their place in the world.

Now it’s my turn. I’ve spent my life outdoors, watching the world from behind a fence, and I’m ready to step into my own new beginning — one where I’m not just watching, but belonging. I’m a big, gentle guy who loves affection and belly rubs, and I’ll lean right into you for more. I’m happiest near water — give me a pond, a creek, or even a sprinkler, and I’ll show you my best splash.

I’ve done my job raising my pups, and now I’m ready to meet my own family — the ones who’ll see me not just as a rescue, but as a loyal friend who’s waited patiently for his turn to be loved.

🖤 I’m Onyx — one of the Lucky 7!

I’m a black Lab mix with an easygoing nature and a big love for people. I’m happiest when I’m soaking up attention or leaning in for a quiet moment together.

I haven’t lived much inside before, but I’m ready to learn — things like soft beds, cozy corners, and the rhythm of family life sound pretty great to me. I walk nicely on leash and keep things simple: calm company, steady affection, and a heart that’s ready for home.

Four of my Lucky 7 friends are still waiting at the kennel, but I’m ready to start my next chapter — with a family to call my own.

Brody’s shelter stay could end with one simple yes: yes to fostering. 💙

Meet Brody! This handsome chocolate (with a hint of white) Lab mix is approximately 2 years old, weighs 65 lbs., and is currently waiting in a full shelter in the Middle Peninsula region of Virginia.

Brody came in as a stray, so his history with children and cats is unknown.

Shelters are full, rescues are stretched thin, and dogs like Brody are waiting for someone to give them a chance.

We want to say YES to Brody, but first, we need someone willing to open their home. Any children in the home must be ages 8 or older for Brody. We’re looking for a foster or foster with the intent to adopt so we can welcome Brody into rescue and give him the fresh start he deserves.
