One of the most important responsibilities I have as a breeder doesn’t end when a puppy leaves my home. I care about EVERY SINGLE puppy I produce as part of my litter, and I want to know that each one is safe, loved, and properly cared for throughout their lifetime.
That is one of the reasons I microchip my puppies and have a strict puppy contract. The microchip and contract are not meant to make things difficult for families. They are there to help protect the puppy and give me a way to step in when a puppy may need help.
I have always said that I will take back any puppy I produce if they ever need a safe place to go, regardless of the circumstances. I would much rather have a puppy returned to me than see one end up in a shelter, rescue, or an uncertain situation.
Recently, Animal Control contacted me regarding one of the puppies I produced, giving me the opportunity to help and reclaim that puppy. I am very thankful the officer took the time to reach out and that the puppy's identification allowed them to connect the puppy back to me.
This is exactly why responsible breeding practices matter. Microchips, contracts, and maintaining a relationship with the families who take home my puppies are all part of my commitment to them for life, not just until they leave my home.
My puppies may grow up and belong to other families, but I will always care about where they are and what happens to them. I am here for the lofetime of your puppy and if you desire a lifelong friend, coach and trainer. ❤️🐾
