She knows the command, now we’re working on holding it! We start with a few seconds and slowly add more time, rewarding her along the way. The goal is for her to stay until we give her release word, instead of deciding on her own when she’s done.

Guests coming in and out? Use “Place” to give your dog a clear job while the door is busy. Practice it when things are calm, then use it when company comes over. Remember to reward them for staying there and give a release cue when they’re free to get up.
