I wish people would stop looking for the magic tool to stop their dog from pulling. I get it. We all want a dog who just magically knows that we want them to walk beside us and just be with us, but that isn't how living creatures work. They are not born knowing what WE want - they are born knowing what their species needs and likes to do. So instead of looking for a quick fix, that is often painful and goes against nature's design. Let's work WITH nature, let's work with your dog's biology and genetics.

Resource guarding can be frustrating and scary. We can help, if you are facing this challenge.

If you have a puppy, start practicing "Trade" from day one. Never take something away from your puppy without giving something in exchange.

If your dog is resource guarding, create safety for everyone. Then work on the guarding. Add to food bowls, toss treats when pup has a high value treat. Give your dog a safe space where that treat can be enjoyed. DO NOT give your dog anything that needs to be taken away. Always choose safe, consumable high value treats to avoid conflict.

Do trust building activities every day.

We highly recommend the book Who’s a Good Dog and How To Be a Better Human by Jessica Pierce and the Do No Harm Dog Training Manual by Linda Michaels.
