Remember, walking at our pace, attached to us by a 6 foot rope is NOT in any way natural for a dog.

You are either teaching with research based methods that do not traumatize dogs, or you are using force because you don't have the knowledge or patience to do otherwise. Try to put yourself in the dog's place and follow the golden rule. We do not need to use aversive methods to teach dogs or change behavior.

It gets harder and harder for me to see dogs in public places who are struggling or having to endure aversive collars. I find the more education and information I have, the more sensitive I am to this. Imagine being forced into a terrifying environment while the person you love and trust more than anything forces you to be there, and doesn’t recognize your pleas to leave. Also imagine devoting your life to helping your best friend with daily tasks he or she cannot do without you, yet having to wear a painful collar or endure electricity being put into your neck while you are doing your best.

Do you have feelings when you see dogs struggling or wearing aversive equipment? How do you feel about people passing their dogs off as service dogs, when they are not?
