New peer-reviewed study published in BVA Journals (Wiley) found that cancer cells taken from dogs with mammary tumors were highly inflamed and had an overactive internal signaling system linked to inflammation and tumor growth. When these cells were treated with purified CBD in the lab, inflammation dropped significantly, key inflammatory signals were reduced, and at higher concentrations, the growth of the cancer cells also slowed. Importantly, these anti-inflammatory effects occurred even at doses that didn’t kill the cells, suggesting CBD may help “calm” the tumor environment rather than just act as a toxin. While these findings come from lab-based research, they provide an exciting foundation for future real-world studies in dogs.
