Seeking: a very specific masterpiece of a match.

Some cats are lap cats.
Some cats are social butterflies.
And then there’s Spot Van Gogh — our resident enigmatic artist, professional box enthusiast, catnip connoisseur, and independent thinker.

Spot was found outside, fending for himself, and while we may never know exactly what his life looked like before arriving here, one thing is clear: traditional house cat life is not the dream he’s sketching for himself.

At 4 years old, Spot is looking for something a little different.

Think barn. Stable. Workshop. Greenhouse. Warehouse. A safe Rhode Island property where he can have structure, shelter, dedicated care, and eventually the kind of outdoor lifestyle where he’ll feel most like himself.

And before you think, “So he just dislikes people?” — not exactly.

A member of our team described photographing him as “the cat in the box who really didn’t want much to do with me… but did slow blink at me twice.” Which, in cat terms, is basically a heartfelt sonnet.

Spot may not be the cat who throws himself into your arms, but there’s something undeniably charming about him. The quiet kind of charm. The kind that makes you root for him.

He’s also a huge fan of catnip, which feels like important intelligence.

Spot does have mild asthma that’s well-managed with medication, and because he arrived with a wound of unknown origin, his future setup will require a thoughtful transition period to help him safely acclimate before gaining outdoor freedom. We’ll gladly walk you through exactly what that looks like.

Yes, this is a tall order. We know that.

Finding the right placement for a cat like Spot can feel a little like searching for a needle in a haystack… which feels oddly fitting, given what we’re hoping for.

But we also know cats like Spot deserve the chance to live lives where they can truly thrive — not simply be asked to fit into a box that was never meant for them. (Unless, of course, we’re talking literal cardboard. He’s quite fond of those.)

So we’re putting it out into the universe: Is there a Rhode Island barn, stable, outbuilding, or property with room for one wonderfully peculiar, box-loving little masterpiece?

After all, not every masterpiece belongs in a gallery. Some belong in a barn. If Spot Van Gogh sounds like your kind of guy, we’d love to talk. To learn more, visit www.potterleague.org or call 401.846.8276.

Zula isn’t the cat who’s going to march up to greet you on day one and claim your lap like she’s always owned it. She’s the cat for someone who understands that trust is earned, not assumed — and that some of the most incredible transformations start with the smallest, quietest wins.

When Zula first arrived in our care, the world felt terrifying. Every unfamiliar sound, movement, and person sent her searching for safety. But during her time in foster care, she began making meaningful progress — the kind that might seem small to some, but for Zula, was monumental.

She started venturing out to eat her meals in the open, rediscovered the joy of toys, chatted to herself in the sweetest little trills, and even began taking treats from her foster’s hand. For a cat like Zula, that’s huge.

Her love language? Temptations. Churu. Quiet patience. Respecting her boundaries.

Zula is looking for a rockstar adopter with a soft heart, steady patience, and the ability to celebrate progress that may come in inches before it comes in leaps. She may also thrive with a confident, friendly feline companion who can help show her the world isn’t so scary.

Zula doesn’t need someone to fix her. She needs someone willing to believe in who she can become. While her foster experience showed us what’s possible, her adopter should expect that trust will need to be rebuilt in a new home, at her pace and on her terms.

For the right person, watching Zula choose bravery one tiny moment at a time may be one of the most rewarding relationships you’ll ever build.

Interested in meeting Zula? Visit our Animal Care & Adoption Center in Middletown, call (401) 846-8276, or learn more at potterleague.org.

Beau doesn’t do anything halfway. When he loves you, it’s full-body, leaning in, flopping over for pets, following you like your very loyal shadow. He’s affectionate, goofy, knows his cues, including high five, and once he’s yours… he’s all in.

And right now, Beau is looking for someone who can be all in for him, too.

Due to a past injury, he’s in need of a specialized surgery to repair his leg, and we’ll be covering the cost. What Beau needs is a home where he can land, recover, and come out the other side feeling his best with someone he can count on. We’ll be right there with you through it all, offering guidance, resources, and support every step of the way.

Beau is a big, beefy boy with a lot of enthusiasm for life. He likes other dogs and has lived with them before. He just doesn’t always know how to make a great first impression. Think enthusiastic, a little over-the-top, still figuring it out. With the right match and thoughtful introductions, he can absolutely have dog friends. He’s also done well with cats.

At home, Beau is all heart, a lovable oaf in the best way. He bonds quickly, lives for affection, and wants to be close to his people. He’ll do best in a teens-and-up home where he can settle into a steady routine and has someone who can provide structure and consistency while he continues to build his skills. He’s smart, eager, and the kind of dog who wants to get it right. We’ll support you along the way with training resources and ongoing support.

If you’re ready for a dog who will be deeply loyal, endlessly loving, and completely yours, Beau is waiting. Call us at 401.846.8276, stop by our Animal Care and Adoption Center in Middletown, or visit www.potterleague.org to learn more and talk with our team about what he’ll need to thrive.

Be the one who changes everything for him.

Cowboy… out on the range.
For about five seconds.

Then it’s beach trips, car rides, and a run.

Turns out he’s less “wild west” and more “where are we going next?”

He’s got the adventure part down—now Cowboy’s just lookin’ for the right place to hang his hat.

Talk about a successful draft! A huge thank you to the New England Patriots Foundation and the Kraft Family for hosting the first-ever Pawtriots Dog Adoption & Draft Watch Party and putting dogs at the top of the board.

We were honored to be part of it—and thrilled to report that 8 of the dogs we brought were drafted into loving homes. To top it off, the first two round picks of the day came straight from the Potter League, making for an unforgettable start to this special event.

We’re so grateful to the New England Patriots, the New England Patriots Foundation, and the Kraft Family for their continued generosity, leadership, and commitment to helping pets find the families they deserve through the Pawtriots initiative. A special shout-out to Terrell Jennings and Julian Ashby, who each drafted a new furry friend of their own at the Pawtriots Dog Adoption & Draft Watch Party—both proud Potter League pups. Wishing them a great season ahead with plenty of wins, tail wags, and loyal teammates waiting at home. What an unforgettable day for our dogs and everyone who helped make it possible.
