The Humane Society of Middletown was founded in 1959 by a handful of people with big hearts and small purses. We are a privately run animal shelter that is funded ONLY through the generosity of our supporters. We DO NOT receive any funding or support from the Humane Society of the United States. We are a no-kill facility. Our dedicated staff works hard every day to ensure that the animals in our care receive the best care that we can afford. We work to meet each and every animal’s nutritional, medical, and social needs. Low cost private and group cremation services for beloved pets are available to the general public. Zuzu is a 4 yr old Himalayan/Siamese mix cat. Zulu was surrendered to us when her owner became unable to care for her anymore. Zulu lived with an elderly woman and would prefer a quiet home. Zuzu has not been around dogs or cats so we aren't sure how she will do. Zuzu is spayed and we are updating her vaccinations.

Ray is a 9 week old shepherd/husky mix who is now available for adoption. This sweet guy was born at our shelter on 7/31/26 to a mom that only had 2 pups and his sister is being adopted today. Ray's mom has already been adopted too as she was the SWEETEST dog that ever existed.
Ray is full of energy and needs a pretty active home. Ray can NOT live in an apartment as he needs constant exercise with a fenced yard ad well as daily activities. Ray loves all people, dogs and cats and with proper training will make the best family dog. Ray has age appropriate vaccinations, will be neutered, microchipped and current on heartworm and F&T prevention. Three beautiful Dogo Argentino pups are now available for adoption. These precious puppies were born to a backyard breeder who had already been charged for the last 30-40 dogs that weren't being properly cared for and authorities had already removed most of the animals in his possession. While awaiting court hearings that were postponed for months and months, this guy hid a pregnant dog at his girlfriends home. When authorities heard, they immediately went to retrieve the animals he was not allowed to have. He proceeded to throw the puppies in a ditch on the side of the road to avade the authorities. Thankfully, the puppies were found and brought to Catskill Animal Rescue where they were transferred to a foster home with a licensed dog trainer.
We agreed to help find some puppies homes. We now have 2 boys and 1 girl available for adoption.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR HOMES WITH EXPERIENCED OWNERS FOR THESE PUPPIES. THE TRAINER THAT FOSTERED THEM IS OFFERING FREE PUPPY CLASSES TO WHOEVER ADOPTS ONE OF THESE PUPPIES.
All will have age appropriate vaccinations, be spayed/neutered and microchipped. All will be placed on heartworm and F&T prevention.
