More info on joining the Go Team Therapy dogs!

🐾 DAY 2: What Makes a Great Therapy Dog? 🐾

One of the questions we hear most often from people interested in joining our team is, “Would my dog make a good therapy dog?”

The great thing about therapy dogs is that they come in all shapes, sizes, breeds, and backgrounds! Your dog can be purebred, mixed breed, a rescue, or a dog you’ve raised from a puppy. What matters most isn’t their breed or where they came from—it’s their temperament and enjoyment of connecting with people. ❤️

A great therapy dog is friendly, confident, calm, and able to remain focused despite distractions. They should enjoy meeting new people, being handled and petted, and most importantly… they should truly enjoy the work!

Therapy dog work isn’t about having a perfectly trained dog or knowing a long list of fancy tricks. It’s about having a dog with the right temperament and a genuine desire to bring comfort, connection, and smiles to others.

Think your dog might have what it takes? 🐶 Follow along this week as we continue sharing more about the process of becoming part of Go Team Therapy Dogs!

So happy I’m getting to photograph more daycare dogs this year! 😍

Luna brought a professional level A game of modeling to our session and made for some stunning photos on an otherwise overcast day!

I was so excited for her and her sister Zoe’s session after their dog mom, Shannon, serendipitously won a session with me at Sounds of Solidarity. Why is it serendipitous? Zoe and Luna are also daycare clients of mine! I was so excited to capture their personalities, plus it’s a bonus that they’re beautiful dogs.

Together we designed some gorgeous fine art prints that are being delivered soon, and I’m so excited to show them off.

In a slightly different post than normal, we planted trees! Yesterday the Maryland Forest Service came and planted 900 native trees and shrubs behind one of our yards and along our driveway. This is something we’ve been planning and looking forward to for over a year!

The field behind our side yard wasn’t used for anything besides previously being hayed and it’ll be great to have trees to cut the wind and sound. For now it’s just a field of tubes but we’re excited to start seeing little trees start to grow this year!
