Today, we said goodbye to one of the toughest horses I have ever known. Tough to ride, yes, but tough through life too.
After a 1.50-1.60 career in Europe, Zeke was imported at 13. After a few years of in California, Darcie acquired him to chase some dreams she had set with her previous mount. With much success, he eventually made his way here. Within his time here, he became the beloved Moose. From taking kids around the jumper ring, hunter derby successes, and making Kate Margaret’s horse dreams come true for the past 3 years, this horse truly is irreplaceable.
Zeke, you were one of the hardest horse I have ever ridden, let alone trained. You challenged all of us mentally and physically. But… you had the biggest heart. You were a fighter in every way. Despite your battles with soundness the last while, you never said no. I know for fact if you were asked to keep going, you would….
You, my friend, are free. Free from pain and discomfort. Being with you as you took your last breath was my greatest pleasure and the least I could do for a horse as special as you.
Rest easy, big boy. You will be greatly missed but forever loved ❤️❤️
