A few weeks after Doug’s passing, we are all mourning his presence and still working hard to find homes for a few dogs from his kennel. Most of his babies went to mushers all over New England and Ontario, and there are even several currently adjusting to “couch dog life.”
The last few dogs in search of a home are being loved and cared for by Homeward Bound, Addison County's Humane Society. Extremely goofy, snuggly and trainable, these babies make amazing pets! Please take a moment to check them out and see if you have room in your heart and home for a wonderful dog.
We want to thank the folks at Homeward Bound for all they do, and their support following Doug’s passing. We are immensely grateful they made room for these great pups and are taking wonderful care of them.
We also want to extend a huge thank you to the dozens of mushers from all over the continent that reached out, connected folks, transported dogs, and welcomed Doug’s dogs into their kennels. As terribly sad a time this has been, the overwhelming amount of support from the mushing community meant it did not take long for almost every dog to find a safe place to land.
Lastly, I must thank the numerous volunteers that cared for Doug’s dogs after he passed and helped with the dissolution of the kennel. Right away folks showed up to feed and water, drive dogs all over NE, move muddy dog houses, and spread the news of dogs in need of homes.
This has been a huge team effort- as everything is in mushing! The final stretch is finding these last few babies a warm couch and best friend(s).
Sending love and gratitude to all the folks that came together in this sad time.
Woof,
Jules and the CHK Team
