🐶 Happy National Make a Dog’s Day! ☀️🐾

To celebrate, one of our sweet shelter residents, Costello, recently got to take a much-deserved day out of the shelter—and he proved to be an absolute dream!

According to his volunteer guide, Costello was a complete sweetheart who loved walking along the river and resting in the sun. He is so well-behaved that the volunteer thinks he would make an incredible running partner! During his outing, he was a total gentleman and behaved perfectly around everything they encountered, including children, bikes, strollers, and even passing cats.

He does still get a bit scared to hop into the car on his own, but we are hopeful that with time and patience, that will subside. Everyone truly enjoyed their time with this wonderful boy!

🍼 URGENT FOSTER CALL: Medical Bottle & Special Care Kittens! 🐾✨

We are in urgent need of experienced or willing foster homes for three very special little ones who need extra medical attention and TLC.

These tiny babies have unique needs, but we provide all the supplies, food, and medical care you need! Here is who is looking for a temporary home:
• 🍼 Two Bottle-Baby Kittens: These little ones are currently receiving medical treatment and we believe they will lose part of their tails. They need a safe, clean indoor space to heal and grow big and strong.
• 🥣 One Mush Kitten: This sweet baby is currently mush- and syringe-fed and needs a dedicated foster parent to help with transitioning to mush food

If you have room in your home and your heart to help these vulnerable kittens through their medical recovery, please reach out to us right away at 904-375-9122! Let's get these babies out of the shelter and into a cozy home. 💙🏡

🌧️ RAINY SEASON ALERT: Watch out for Ringworm! 🐾✨

As we wrap up the rainy season, damp weather creates the perfect environment for hidden fungal spores! We want to help keep your pets (and your family!) safe by sharing a quick heads-up about ringworm.

What you need to know:
🦠 What is it? Ringworm is a spore-based fungal infection—not a worm! It is easily contagious between animals and humans.
⏳ Recovery Time: It can take up to 2 months of consistent treatment to completely clear up in pets.

Common Signs to Look For:
▪️ Circular patches of missing fur
▪️ Scaly, crusty, or flaky skin (especially around ears, face, paws, and legs)
▪️ Under a blacklight, some ringworm species will glow a yellow-green color

If you notice any of these symptoms on your pets, check in with your vet right away! Early detection makes treatment so much easier. Stay safe and dry out there! 🐶🐱❤️
