Not rushing to the rescue gives your dog the chance to be confident in situations like this. Suki found this fun little challenge all on her own, so I wasn't going to stop her or help her, knowing she's not in any true danger.

Practicing recalls during play and under high stimulus all prepares you for high stakes situations like this.

Don’t let all the goofy videos of Ali fool you. Genetics play a factor in this but structure, reward and accountability have to play a bigger role.

Do you want training you can count on? Don’t hesitate to reach out and let’s get you on the right path!

Play time! Hazel originally would rather you chase her than bring back the toy.

Some of that is still lingering, but balanced with a recall, we can keep the fun times rolling!

Zoomies are being loaded up as we were trying to get some reps in with Hazel lol

Hazel started getting the hang of her stationary heel towards the end of my time with her. It wasn’t a primary goal for us, with everything we needed to tackle, but we had fun playing around with it.

This is a good example of how on-leash behaviors transfer off-leash. It doesn't always replicate cleanly, especially if you don’t have enough reps, like I didn't at that moment.

These two had very different reasons for being reactive outside the home.

Places like PetSmart and other dog-friendly locations are perfect for working through triggers and building the behaviors you actually want to see.

Poppy can actually be friendly with new dogs in a home setting, but out in the real world? Let's just say he had to work on controlling his "dark thoughts" 😂

Hazel, on the other hand, had never really gotten the chance to explore life outside the home because she was simply too much to manage. Her reactivity wasn't aggressive; it was pure overexcitement with nowhere to go.

Does this sound like your pup? Send us a message and let's get you on the right path!
