Yesterday was a tough day for The Bully Barn.
Today I feel the need to clear up some misconstrued information being told.
Some days my job is muscle memory and repetition.
Others I have to make the hard choice to tell people
"This is not the dog for you"
Do to:
Lack of compatibility.
Lack of effort on the humans behalf.
The fact you've openly admitted youre scared of your dog.
The level of challenging the dog is giving the owner.
Not being open to use the tools required to get the desired results.
But when the dog is repeatedly going after the owner...
Pupils so dilated the eyes are just black, tick tocking tail, salivating for the next grab.
I am expected to do my job. I take that with pride.
But some days that means I tell you
Im sorry you picked this dog, the dog doesnt have to pick you back.
I tell everyone upon consultation.
I will be honest with you and you may not like what I have to say.
Some dogs are set up for failure from the very beginning.
Yesterday I did suggest a surrender.
I suggested this dog gets the help he needs before it comes to a Dangerous Dog Hearing.
I told the owner this dog is going to severely hurt you, and already has.
I do my best to help every dog that comes my way.
But I am one person.
I do have a family with small children.
I did deny taking the dog, and referred out to some amazing trainers.
I didnt not do my job as someone has angrily stated.
My choice was based of safety, compassion, and experiences.
So for the person saying
"Brittany from the bully barn took my dog from me, and had me sign to have my dog put down"
That is the furthest from the truth.
Even if you slammed the metaphorical door..I do hope you know, deep down.
Your surrendering him is a true act of kindness.
You signed on your own free will.
Animal control was who you signed your dog off to not me.
And we are entrusting this 9 month old dog to other professionals who id put my neck on the line to say...they will give him great results.
They have the time that I just dont have right now.
Im sorry,
I dont aim to remove dogs from their home.
I do my best with what im qualified to handle.
Thank you,
Britt
