Remember last week when we were doing 47 laps around the building, forgetting adoption pictures, borrowing brain cells from orange cats, and generally operating on bleach fumes and vibes?

LOOK AT US NOW.

We know the route.
We know the system.
We know where the doors are.

WE HAVE GOT THIS DOWN PAT. 😂👏

Ringworm Central™ remains under lockdown, the adoption train keeps rolling, and TWO of our adults punched their tickets outta here. 🥹❤️

At this point these aren’t even Chaos Adoptions anymore.

They’re Highly Organized Shenanigans™.

Please allow us this moment of confidence before something inevitably humbles us tomorrow. 😂🐾

Hi! My name is Emma, I adopted Canute (now Habeas Corpuss, Habeas or Haby for short). As promised, here are some pictures of him now that he’s all settled in.

Ya’ll…I truly didn’t think we would have to explain this again so soon.

We just went through this. We just made a post explaining why leaving animals at a shelter without speaking to anyone is dangerous.

We even put a sign directly on our door.

And yet, here we are again.

Today, three black kittens were left outside our door.

They were left directly underneath a sign that very clearly says:

DO NOT DROP CATS OR KITTENS OFF AT OUR DOOR.

That sign also explains reasons WHY.

Today, one of the exact things we were afraid of happened.

These kittens were packed into a small carrier with towels. There was a small amount of food left with them, and we recognize that whoever left them may have believed they were doing what they could.

But today is EXTREMELY humid. We are under a heat advisory, with temperatures feeling like the mid-90s. The air is HEAVY.

A small carrier packed with kittens and towels can heat up quickly…And then those kittens can suffer heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

There were construction workers on the property today, but they are working toward the back of the property. They had no reason to come to our front door.

These kittens were not found quickly.

I could include a photograph showing the condition they were in when they were found..but I won’t. It isn’t a picture anyone needs to see.

And this is where we need people to understand something.

We know times are hard.

We know people are struggling.

We know shelters are full…We are one of them.

We know there will be people who read this and say:

“At least they brought them to a shelter.”
“They did the right thing.”
“At least they didn’t dump them somewhere else.”

But honestly..How is leaving three kittens outside an unattended building during a heat advisory the right thing?

This is exactly why we have that sign.

It isn’t there because we don’t care.

It’s there because we DO.

It isn’t there to shame someone who needs help. It isn’t there because we don’t understand desperation. We deal with desperate situations every single day.

It’s there because leaving an animal at our door does not guarantee that anyone knows they’re there. Unfortunately cameras don’t catch everything.

We want to believe whoever left these kittens simply didn’t think about what could happen.

We would much rather believe that than believe they saw the sign, understood the danger, and chose to leave them anyway.

But please, please read the signs..Pay attention to our hours that are also on the door..Talk to a human being.

If you are desperate, tell us you’re desperate.

If you don’t know what to do, tell us you don’t know what to do.

We may not always have space. We may not always have the answer you want. But leaving animals unattended outside is not a safe surrender.

Today, three little lives demonstrated exactly why.

And we are asking, once again:

Please do not leave cats or kittens at our door.

Not after hours.
Not because there’s food in the carrier.
Not because “someone will probably find them.”

Because sometimes, someone might not find them in time. 💔

🚨🐱 DAY 3 OF CHAOS ADOPTIONS: WE HAVE EVOLVED. 🐱🚨

THREE MORE KITTENS WENT HOME TODAY!!! 🎉❤️

Kelly, Torman & Tiffany have officially left the chaos and started their new lives. 🥹🐾

BUT PLEASE DIRECT YOUR ATTENTION TO THE PHOTOS.

WE DID IT.

It took three days, approximately 400 laps around the building, enough bleach and lime sulfur to permanently alter our brain chemistry, and one extremely important development…

🍊 TORMAN IS ORANGE.

WE FOUND THE BRAIN CELL.

AND APPARENTLY HE LET US BORROW IT. 🧠🍊

Day 1: 6 adoptions. Zero pictures.
Day 2: 4 adoptions. Pictures of cats. Zero humans.
Day 3: 3 adoptions. FULL PHOTOGRAPHIC DOCUMENTATION.

✨ 13 CATS HOME IN THREE DAYS. ✨

At this rate, another week and we may remember our own names.

No guarantees. The orange cat has left the building and unfortunately he took the brain cell back with him. 😂😭

Thank you to EVERYONE who visited, adopted, walked laps with us, tolerated our bizarre Ringworm Central™ avoidance system, and rolled with the chaos.

🐱 Day 2 of Chaos Adoptions: Complete. 🐱

Today we sent home:

🐱 3 kittens
🐈 1 adult

Chenille and Thurston were adopted together, while Anita and Canute, our adult, went to separate homes. 🏡🐾

That makes 10 cats home in two days!! 🎉❤️

Once again, everyone was AMAZING about our current “please follow us around the building while we avoid Ringworm Central™” adoption experience. 😂

And guys.

📸 We remembered pictures today.

…of the cats.

Not the humans adopting them.

But listen. Progress is progress. 😂

We borrowed the communal brain cell from an orange cat, but apparently our rental period expired halfway through the task. 🍊🧠

Yesterday: no pictures.
Today: cat pictures.
Tomorrow: maybe we’ll get the humans too.

At this rate, by next weekend we may be a fully functioning organization.

No promises. 😂

🚨 DAY ONE OF CHAOS ADOPTIONS IS COMPLETE. 🚨

SIX KITTENS GOT ADOPTED TODAY!!! 🎉🐱

Everyone who came was an absolute CHAMP about our current “you cannot enter the building because ✨fungus✨” situation, and happily followed us on approximately 47 laps of the shelter grounds.

We appreciate you. Your Fitbits appreciate you. 😂

Unfortunately, after weeks of huffing bleach, Lysol, and lime sulfur fumes, we completely forgot that ADOPTION PHOTOS ARE A THING.

Six kittens adopted.

✨ Fungus: still being hunted for sport.

Tomorrow we’ll try to borrow the communal brain cell from one of our orange cats. Unfortunately, there are several orange cats here, so locating the one currently in possession of it may take some time. 🍊🐈

🐱🚨 FRIDAY. 2 PM. WE’RE DOING THE THING. 🚨🐱

Are we completely rid of ringworm?

NOPE. 🙃

Do we understand how this microscopic fungus continues to disrespect us despite dipping, medicating, wiping, scrubbing, disinfecting, changing clothes, following protocols and generally dedicating our entire existence to its destruction?

ALSO NOPE.

At this point, we have taken its continued presence personally. 😑😂

HOWEVER… we have ringworm-free kittens in a separate area AND an entire back building full of adult cats who are healthy, ready for adoption, and frankly getting pretty tired of waiting for us to defeat The Fungus™ before they can find families.

SO WE’RE OPENING FOR ADOPTIONS FRIDAY AT 2 PM! 🎉🐾

There is, of course, a catch. Because apparently nothing can be easy around here. 😂

For now, we’ll be doing literal BACK-DOOR ADOPTIONS.

No wandering through the shelter. No visiting affected areas. No touching the forbidden fuzzy children. We love you guys dearly, but we already know telling everyone “please don’t touch that cat” will somehow result in someone immediately touching that cat. 😂

So we’re removing temptation altogether.

We also will NOT be posting individual photos of available cats or answering 927 questions in the comments about who we have.

We promise there are cats.

SO. MANY. CATS.

Boys. Girls. Tiny-ish ones. Bigger ones. Basically every color the Cat Distribution System manufactures. Ages 12 weeks and up.

And PLEASE… don’t sleep on our slightly bigger kittens. 😭❤️ Our babies have been sitting here growing while we’ve been closed. Everyone wants the itty-bitty babies, but these guys are still BABIES. They’ve just had time to grow some legs, develop opinions and perfect their parkour.

Come meet them.

You may walk in thinking you know exactly what you want and leave with a completely different cat who climbed into your lap and informed you that the decision had already been made.

As always, adoptions are same-day, first come, first served. We do not hold cats.

Depending on how Friday goes, we will do our very best to remain open all weekend. We’re basically dipping one toe back into civilization and seeing whether the universe immediately throws a chair at us. 😂

Please be patient with us while we figure out this temporary system. It may take a little longer. It may be a little inconvenient. It may be mildly chaotic.

Actually, who are we kidding?

It’s Fried’s. It will definitely be mildly chaotic. 😂

But healthy cats need homes, and we refuse to let this stupid fungus keep them from finding them.

Today, one of our kittens died. 💔 (NO NOT RINGWORM)

He was a victim of the consequences that can come from not spaying or neutering momma and daddy. Inbreeding can bring heartbreaking health problems into this world, and sometimes, no matter how hard we try, we cannot save them.

But please know this… he did not die alone.

He was held in loving arms until his very last breath. He felt our hands, heard our voices, and felt our tears fall on his little body.

We cried with him. We loved him. We stayed.

Please, please spay and neuter your cats. One simple decision can prevent suffering, heartbreak, and little lives like his from ever having to fight this battle. 💔🐾

Rest peacefully, sweet baby Crane. You were loved until the very end. 🌈

🚨 WE WANT YOUR BAG OF BAGS. 🚨

You know what I’m talking about.

That plastic grocery bag stuffed with 47 other plastic grocery bags.

The cabinet you open cautiously because a Kroger bag avalanche may take you out.

The collection that started with “I’ll reuse these” and somehow became an inheritance for your children.

WE WANT THEM. 😂

Our nursery goes through a ridiculous amount of plastic grocery bags because we keep one garbage bag in each individual room/bin area. That way, litter and waste from one group of kittens isn’t being carried around from room to room.

Because while our nursery babies may be tiny, adorable, and approximately 83% eyeballs…
their immune systems are basically running on hopes, dreams, and audacity. 🥹

We do everything we possibly can to prevent the spread of illness, especially among our littlest residents who are much more susceptible. That means strict cleaning protocols, changing protective gear, keeping supplies separated, and yes… an absolutely absurd number of grocery bags.

So please.

Clean out the cabinet.
Empty the pantry.
Free yourself from the Bag Goblin that has been multiplying under your sink since 2017.
