Officially starting my journey as a mixed animal veterinarian with Enid M. Mendoza-Rosado as my mentor. 🐄🐎🐾

After nearly 2.5 years of practicing small animal medicine, I’ve decided it’s time to step outside of my comfort zone and start learning a whole new side of veterinary medicine: large animal.

Going from dogs and cats to cows and horses definitely means becoming a student all over again and I’m SO ready for it. There’s something really special about allowing yourself to be a beginner again, staying curious, and remembering that there is always more to learn in this profession.

Veterinary medicine has already taken me places I never imagined, and somehow I feel like this is only the beginning.

So here’s to new experiences, new mentors, new species, probably a lot more mud 😂, and officially entering my mixed animal vet era. 🐶🐱🐄🐎🩺

Puerto Rico, let’s see where this new chapter takes me. 🇵🇷🤍

An Open Letter to FIGS 🇵🇷💌

Dear FIGS,

Maybe one day this message will find its way to you.

I’m a Puerto Rican veterinarian, and for years I’ve watched healthcare professionals from around the world represent brands that don’t just dress our profession, but celebrate the people behind it.

And every time I see those opportunities, I think the same thing:

I want to see Puerto Rico represented too. 🇵🇷

I want to see a Puerto Rican veterinarian representing our island, our profession, our culture, and the incredible talent that exists here.

Since I started sharing my journey as a veterinarian online, my purpose has become bigger than simply talking about veterinary medicine. I want students to see themselves represented. I want a future Puerto Rican veterinarian to come across my content and think, “I can do that too.”

I’ve built this community case by case, shift by shift, and video by video through emergency cases, long nights, continuing education, and all the moments that remind me why I chose this profession.

And yes… one of my dreams is to become a FIGS Ambassador someday. 🩺✨

Not just for me.

For Puerto Rico.
For veterinary medicine.
For the representation we still need.

Maybe that representation isn’t there yet. But when the day comes that you’re looking for a veterinarian from Puerto Rico, I hope you know I’m right here.

So I’m putting it out into the universe—and onto Instagram—because sometimes you have to be brave enough to say your dreams out loud.
